9-11 "Jersey Girl" Widows respond to Coulter in NY Daily News
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/424405p-358034c.html

From the book:

In "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," the uncompromisingly right-wing Coulter writes the Jersey Girls have no right to criticize President Bush or any of the failures that led to the terror attacks.

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis," Coulter writes.

"And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy. . .

"These self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them."

Kristen Breitweiser:

I'd like her to meet my daughter and tell her how anyone could enjoy their father's death," said Kristen Breitweiser, one of four widows known as the "Jersey Girls."

"She sounds like a very disturbed, unraveled person," added Breitweiser.

Lorie Van Auken:

Van Auken told the Daily News she was stunned by the vitriol.

"Having my husband burn alive in a building brought me no joy," she said. "Watching it unfold on national TV and .seeing it repeated endlessly was beyond what I could describe. Telling my children they would never see their father again was not fun. And we had no plans to divorce."

Others:

Politicians of both parties denounced Coulter's comments.

"It's totally inhumane to be saying things like this about people who went through such agony," said Rep. Pete King (R-L.I.).

"It seems that she's just full of anger and hate," said Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan), who held a news conference yesterday with relatives of 9/11 victims on the country's failure to improve security.

"Like an insecure child, it's always been clear that Ann Coulter is prepared to do anything to get attention," added Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn, Queens). "This is a new low."

Let's see the bitch slide out from under this one.

She and O'Lielly should just slink away, back into the slime from which they came.

8. I don't think so. She gets $30,000 per appearance for this kind of vitriol
The knuckle dragging rethugs LOVE this kind of talk. Just like Oxy cotin guy. The more outrageous the talk the more $$$ is made from the mindless moron crowd they cater to.

This coverage just made her another several hundred thousand dollars in appearances.

There is no "over the line" with these arseholes.

26. Ding, ding, ding. "There is no over the line with these arseholes"
especially not when money is involved. Just like Rush, Ann Coulter must sit up at night thinking of the most vile thing she can think of just to stay in the limelight. Without outraging everybody, she would have to get a real job and she's just not qualified to do anything else. This time she just might have stepped over the line for even her base - we can only hope.

3. She is a classic bully.
It would be interesting if someone was able to track down the people she went to school with and find out what she was like as a child and teenager. I would bet that she was the class bully, turning kids against each other, leading a clique of followers, and basically bringing a toxic atmosphere to whatever classroom she was in at any given moment.

32. "Alpha" is the opposite of Bullies.
"Alpha Girls", if you mean anything like Alpha Dogs, are not bullies.

They are the natural leaders. Those dogs in the pack who DON'T have to connive or manipulate in order to lead.

The younger dogs, who are jockeying for position are the insecure ones. They don't know where they belong in the pack, so they pick fights and do a lot of posturing.

Understanding the dynamics of the Alpha Dog is so important to living with or training multiple dogs that I am concerned that people are using the term "Alpha" to mean bully.

It means the opposite.

48. Nope...not like Alpha Dogs.
It's a recent coinage in books and articles on the generations behind us.

In this case, the Alpha Girl (a k a the "really mean girl" or the "queen bee"), is a supremely confident, domineering and manipulative teenager, whose main appeal seems to be her stereotypically masculine behavior.

Sound more like Coulter now?

behaviorists.

It sure is going to make it confusing to try to educate people on their dogs' behavior. :(

34. Stern had a great show on the day of 9/11
I was at work that day and the building I worked in had very poor radio reception, so about the only thing I could get in there was Stern (forget AM!)... additionally, just about every news site was down due to the internet backlog. I had to rely on emails from my mom (who had access to Bloomberg TV at work) and Stern.

He was on until well past his usual time of calling it quits and was really great that day.

Unfortunately, he became pro-Iraq war for about a year after the invasion...

in fact, I was pissed when they promo-ed her appearance that morning. BUT when I watched Coulter implode on national television, catapulting over the bounds of common decency and rational discourse, I realized the Today Show did a public service. It was an"Emperor has no clothes" moment. She was a naked, raving lunatic that surely insulted the sensibilities of even those in her own political party. She really really unraveled, and I have seen her numerous times-- mostly on cable.

She made herself a pariah... the NY Daily News actually has her on the cover with the blazing headline 'Queen of Cruelty". Will she ever be taken 'seriously' again? I doubt it.

24. My anger isn't directed at Coulter, but
at the media which continue to showcase her. The Today Show has her on and then has Lauer play his holier-than-thou act "look at me, I'm a journalist!" No, you're not, Matt. A journalist wouldn't have given Coulter airtime. Why not have crazy Fred Phelps on with his message of God killing our soldiers as retribution against the U.S.?
Where do you draw the line? Are there no standards at all? Have the Klan on your show. Have rapists on describing their crimes. Pedophiles with their video.
Bill Maher hasn't had Coulter as a guest recently. And the rumor is that Jon Stewart refuses to have her on his show.
If these guys....who aren't even journalists....refuse to give her hate a forum, why are the networks?
Faux News refuses to censor Bill O'Reilly who turned war victims of Malmedy into war criminals. And that's hardly the first major error O'Reilly has made. He also called out a fatwa against a newspaper publisher - showing his photo and phone number on his show. The man had been dead. For years.
This is journalism?
No. It isn't. And that's where my anger is directed.
Coulter is exactly as she appears. A freak show full of hate and distortion.
It's The Today Show masquerading as legitimate which is wrong. And Faux "News" abetting O'Reilly's lies.

39. Even that little pissant Tucker Carlson gave her a hard time.
She was on Tucker's show last night, and I actually watched in horror as she tried to defend her comments.

Even Tucker Carlson called her "abhorrent." He also pointed out to her that Republicans and especially President Bush have often exploited 9/11 for political gain, and yet she has nothing to say about that. Carlson went on to say how disgusted he was at the 9/11 exploitation used to much effect during the '04 Republican National Convention.

I was pretty surprised... hey, I'm never going to enjoy Tucker Carlson, but it's clear that Anne Coulter isn't going to find any defenders, even on her side of the aisle. That aisle is named "Crazy-Ass Nutbag," by the way.
