Leahy: Why Not Recess & Let Cheney Tell Nation What Laws We'll Have?
Specter Won't Subpoena Telecom Executives
& Let Cheney Tell Us What Laws We'll Have

By KATHERINE SHRADER
The Associated Press
Tuesday, June 6, 2006; 6:20 PM

WASHINGTON -- Phone company executives won't be grilled by a Senate panel anytime soon about their roles in the Bush administration's eavesdropping program.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said Tuesday he will hold off subpoenaing the telecommunications chiefs while he works with the White House on his legislation that would ask a secretive federal court to review the constitutionality of Bush's surveillance operations.

Democrats accused Specter of abdicating Congress' oversight responsibilities.

"Why don't we just recess for the rest of the year?" the committee's top Democrat, Sen. Pat Leahy of Vermont, asked sarcastically. "Vice President Cheney will just tell the nation what laws we'll have."

4. Way to go Pat!
We are almost a total dictatorship. I wish we Americans would wake up to what is happening!

The bushies have made Congress irrelevant, enabled by the Republican Congress. Why don't they just resign, go home and save the tax payers all of their salaries? Send the judges home too. Who needs them? Dead-eye Dick Cheney will tell us what laws to obey. Peter Lorre Gonzalez will send all dissenters to the reeducation camps. We can have our daily mandatory two minute hate. We, the people, will forfeit all of our rights, then we can have a coronation for King George while freedom is on the march. Yay! Welcome to the terrordome.

5. Thank you, Senator Leahy.
Specter is a snake. If it`s a choice between country and party, he`l roll over for the party every single time.

8. The deal in a nutshell:
"Congress, if you accede to all our demands now, we will definitely consider your requests in the future."

Jeebus, any six-year-old on a playground can see where this is going.

10. The Dems should walk out and picket the senate. They want to do their job
and BushInc doesn't give them any room to do it.
