DU Activists! email Jay Leno re: Al Gore & NOLA
here is Jay's Feedback Page:
http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Tonight_Show_with_Jay_Leno/feedback/index.shtml#feedback

As I pointed out in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1349273&mesg_id=1349273
We need to get the story out of Al's heroic efforts to evacuate patients from NOLA after Katrina. Since Al is going to be on Jay Leno, it would be wonderful if Jay asked him about it. then Jay's millions of viewers would know what kind of a hero al Gore really is.

If the interview hasn't already been taped, email The Tonight Show telling Jay about Gore and NOLA, tell him we want to know more about the story and request Jay to ask Al about it during the interview.

Of course, it may have already been taped....

15. Thanks! I was worried that the interview had already been taped
because the website had a picutre of Gore with the Tonight Show background. But I wasn't sure if that was an old pic or if it was already in the bag and it was too late to send interview suggestions.

So, looks like we still have some time to make suggestions!

Look at it from Jay's perspective: every interviewer keeps asking the same questions. Even Terri Gross asked most of the same questions that Katie Couric asked. If Jay could ask a NEW question, why wouldn't he jump on it?

8. Sorry, I disagree with this. It makes it look like he did it for all the
wrong reasons. Besides, he wasn't the only politician helping out down in NO.

10. That's just it. It's obvious he DID it for the RIGHT reasons!
How long ago was that? How much media coverage did it get? Look at the pics. Do those pics look like a photo op? He's in a tee-shirt, he's sweaty. He looks terrible. he HAS been trying to avoid publicity. That's why it's up to US to show that he is the REAL DEAL.

I keep hearing from Republican voters that they are disgusted with Republican leaders, but they don't think Dems are any better (because of the smear campaigns). This proves that there is at least one Dem who is a true leader. There is at least one Dem who actually cares about America and the world.

That's why WE have to get the message out!

For the Subject line, I put in "perfect interview 'gotcha' moment".

When Jay interviews Al Gore, if you really want to catch him off-guard and see the "real Al Gore", show this horrible picture of him all sweaty and in a tee-shirt:

http://cdn.news.aol.com/aolnews_photos/03/06/20050909195109990020

He's been trying to avoid any media coverage, because he didn't want anyone to think it was a "photo-op" (and after seeing that pic, couild you blame him?). Ask him about what he did to help evacuate New Orleans medical patients to other facilities. You'll catch him completely off-guard, because he's been avoiding any publicity on his actions. But it's a great story that should be told, and that I think your viewers would love to hear.

Here's a couple of links to get you started on some research:

http://usliberals.about.com/b/a/202095.htm

http://www.detnews.com/2005/nation/0509/09/nat4-309467.htm

I know he's trying to push his movie, but just think of his reaction when you bring this up unexpectantly, and think of the audience reaction when they hear it.

CLASSIC TV!

13. Thanks! I figured that you need to write to your audience.
Why would Jay or any other TV personality ask the questions we want asked? Because it makes for good TV!

Al's story would make for great TV. We just need to point it out more.

I wish he was on Dave instead of Jay, but... you work with what you got.

17. Well, I do realize that this kind of appearance can make a president.
Lots and lots of people who pay little attention to politics and have no idea about Al Gore's speeches from 2002 to now will see this.

Remember Clinton on Arsenio Hall?
