1. It's dead in the Senate for the rest of this year...
but the House plans on debating it in the next few weeks. It will die there too, and we won't have to deal with it again till next year, or maybe 2008.

2. Getting this amendment onto the 2006 ballots is URGENT
for a corrupt and incompetent party that wants to cling to power any way it can. They will continue shuffling this thing back and forth between House and Senate either until they get it onto the ballots (and the fundy bigot nutcases to the polls) or time simply runs out. They are desperate.

This is their only campaign strategy. Their ideas have failed and their party is morally bankrupt. Only by fanning the flames of fundy hatred can they hope to retain a majority in either house of Congress.

Don't expect it to go away, in other words. No bad idea ever has.

3. Nope. It's tabled for a year and then when they steal the '06 election
they will bring it back to the floor for a vote. After the '06 election they should have stolen enough seats to get the damn thing passed.

6. The article I read said it was dead for a year. They will bring it back up
in the next Congress.

4. ok, another question, wouldnt a final vote kill it?
It needs 67 votes right??? Theres no way in hell its getting that many, so wouldnt you want it voted for cloture and a final vote and that would kill the bill right there, wouldnt it???

8. I wouldn't want to take a chance on having a final vote.
Remember how repukes twist arms? They would muster the support any way they could if it meant getting it passed. That's just too risky with this corrupt bunch.

9. So Byrd and Nelson of Nebraska were the only Dems to
cross over and vote with the Repukes, huh?

And Chaffee, Snowe, Collins and Sununu crossed over and voted with us.

11. Next up...DEATH TAX!!!
Senate's taking it up this afternoon.

As long as they can keep attention away from important issues us grunts care about, the TOD (topic of the day) will be for special interest groups and wedge issues.
