If the Texas Dems have not already voted to support universal single-payer health care and free university education, try to get them in the resolutions and platform in committee or on the floor of the convention. Even if you lose, it will get those issues discussed. Hawaii Dems -- in 2006 platform and resolutions, voted for universal single-payer health care, free public education through the university level, and to impeach and prosecute Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and Gonzales for war crimes. We also voted for immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
Even if we don't have the numbers to impeach until after November 2006, and even if our Democratic congressional delegations decide not to conduct an impeachment, it is important that we convince our Democratic leaders that rank and file democrats want them to stand up and fight the Republican criminals in every way we can.
Study up on Robert's Rules of Order so you will know when and how to introduce your proposed platform changes on the floor.
