This is merely an observation

Last November a large percentage of DUers were ready to tap Mark Warner as the "heir apparent" That lasted about a week.

When Russ Feingold did his little deal... a large percentage of DUers were ready to tap Mark Warner as the "heir apparent" That lasted about two weeks.

Now Al Gore has done a movie and has reurfaced and yet again large percentage of DUers were ready to tap Mark Warner as the "heir apparent" How long will this last?

People are more than welcome to change their choices anytime they want.

But jumping from bandwagon ro bandwagon tends to leave you in a ditch. Everyone should breathe, watch, listen and strive for mature rationales for supporting the candidate you want in 2008. The myopic pursuit of the momentarily exciting will not sustain the party from mid-April to November in 2008

Although I am not supporter of Clark, kudos to those who have been perhaps quixotically enamored with a single choice for a nominee since Novemeber 2004.

1. I have honestly not seen a large approval for Mark Warner here on DU. The
majority of DUers are Progressives.

As to Al Gore being the new Feingold? They are both Wonderful men. I personally prefer Gore because not only has his star risen for me in my estimation over the last 2 years, he is definitely in my book, more Presidential and will be re-electable.

6. It appeared to me to be only a small handful of DUers in regard to Warner.
Most DUers as I said are progressives and Warner is no progressive.

5. Agree.
I visit this site often (for over two years) and have never seen a great deal of support for Warner.

I think most of us love Feingold, but we are scared of the baggage he brings (not married, divorced, and Jewish).

Now, if you said Gore was the new Feingold who was the new Clark I might agree with you.

At this point I wish all THREE could run on one ticket.

4. Feingold and Gore
both bring much this country needs. I am on their bandwagons.

If you mean for president I have no idea who I will support yet. But I am hugely appreciative of those who stand up and say what needs to be said. When kudos is deserved we give it.

Praising Feingold for calling out bush on his warrantless wiretapping in his Censure motion, appreciating the great attention Gore is bringing to environmental issues and other things they and others have done is a good thing. Declaring them for president is premature but I think it's said in enthusiasm, heck I have seen Stewart/Colbert 08 shirts.

But when people stand out (not as comedians of course) it does make you consider them, the kind of president they might make, what they might bring to the office.

I haven't stepped on to the Warner bandwagon, have avoided Hilary's and think it's way too soon for Obama to have one but there are people I admire things about and keep my eye on.

I trust that like me most people will "watch and listen". Writing "Russ for president" or "Run Al, run" isn't the same as casting a vote, it's all cool.

7. We need a whole party full of Feingolds & Gores.
And Conyers-types for that matter I think they're all great men, but these are perilous times, and there is room for a lot of grteatness.

There have been a few eras in history when there seemed to be an intellectual giant on every corner. Athens in its flowering was like that, and the American colonies at the time of the Revolution. These are times that call for giants of that caliber. We have too few.

8. Warner Guy Here
Obviously. I have never been proud to live in a state other than my home of Flordia except when I lived in VA during his administration. He is the reason I became a Dem after years of being a Rep.

9. Al Gore has already won the presicency
the others have not. Al Gore is a great man that loves this country, he is the right man for the job. Previously he has express no interst in the office, but lately he seem to be warming up to the idea.

There isn't a huge Warner crowd that I'm aware of--at any point.

13. From where I sit, you have totally misread the Gore situation.
Since just after the stolen election of 2000, when I signed in at DU, no other political presence has been so unanimously praised as Al Gore.

To compare him to other politicians, especially those who have less than a quarter of his experience at governing, is ridiculous. No other political/historical figure enjoys as much respect here as Gore does--none.

And these aren't (by and large) people who are "quixotically enamored"; they're people who remember what Al Gore has done through the years and who are aware of his experience, bravery, and wisdom.

foremost, I can appreciate what you posted. I wish more people would consider REAL records and REAL actions over knee-jerk perception from the media, left or right.

And bravery matters alot to me - especially since I side most with the anti-corruption, open government wing of the Democratic party - no one takes on tougher battles than they do and usually are targeted for the most scorn from the GOP and the corporate media.

18. I support both Gore and Feingold
I prefer Gore as Prez but Feingold is my #2 choice and yes I could get very excited with a Gore/Feingold ticket in '08.

I was never thrilled with Mark Warner.
