21. I agree. This is very odd...
And this reminds me of Saddam's sons. They cleaned them up, as well, and broadcast them all over the media, constantly. CNN currently has this pic in the corner during Tony Snow's press conference. You can't avoid it, just as with Saddam's sons. Normally you get a warning when they are going to show gruesome pictures, but not then and not now...

34. Ah, but they will just keep repeating this, over and over and over,
as they do everything else that they want you to believe. Eventually, this will seep into the national consciousness, if they repeat it enough times. That's their MO, keep repeating and stay on-message.:-(

Sickening. Funny how he looks like the guy in the recent video but not like the previous pix before that video.

Anyone has photos before the recent video?

22. I agree. They normally give a warning, so you can leave the room,
if you want to. But they aren't doing it this time, nor did they do it when showing pix of Saddam's dead sons. On CNN, this pic is in the corner of the screen during Tony Snow's press conference. I don't get it, either, nor do I like seeing it.:-(

26. Do you remember the pictures they showed of Saddam's sons?
Those were much more graphic I thought...their faces were bloated and mangled; however they didn't keep them up for an extended period of time like they are with this one.

36. That's what I said. You couldn't avoid those and you sure can't avoid
this one! Yikes, they just flashed a "before" pic of him, on CNN, just as they did with Saddam's sons, with no warning whatsoever!!! And CBS was fined for "nipplegate?!":puke:

3. The whole thing is just strange and bizarre.
Plus nauseating. So I'm supposed to get all giddy and patriotic looking at the face of a dead guy? Since when did we put giant dead faces on the national news?? I thought I was going to vomit.

I don't have enough info to know what to think, but I feel manipulated.

Nice for al-Maliki, huh, three weeks into his term?

11. totally creeped me out
the caption said "US military showed this picture. . ."

Since when do we blow up pictures of dead faces poster size and frame them in gold? How long has he been dead? Didn't this take a bit of time to stage?

14. Wondering the same thing here. Since all the networks are showing the dead
photo of him continuously, they've obviously been told to do so by someone. What the purpose is, I'm not sure. While I'm glad the monster Zarqawi is dead and gone, it's pretty inhumane to ram his dead face down everyone's throats 24/7. There's something to it. I don't know if it's the administrations way of thumbing their noses at the terrorists or what, but there's a concerted effort behind the constant display of his dead face, that's for sure. Very unsettling.

It was with his Pentagon missle-fragment souvenirs and the pieces of bone fragments and other ghoulish celebrations of death. "These are a few of my favorite things!"

18. And the embalmers got right to work ...
... erasing any trace of damage caused by those two 500lb bombs. Just amazing.

I suppose that the photographer and picture-framer were waiting right outside the funeral director's lab with camera and a lovely selection of frames. "Would you prefer the mahogany or the gold?"

"Oh, surely the gold. Gold frames dead bodies so nicely".

20. This is just sick

It's 2006 but you'd think it was the fucking Dark Ages.

When will some Americans get over their fascination with killing and death? When will they stop glorifying death?

Why aren't they framing pictures of our soldiers or the dead civilian Iraqis this way, since our news media is hellbent on helping this administration destroy the Geneva conventions?

I hate American media more than I can say....

27. Yes. The mullahs will be celebrating
This guy was one of their biggest threats.

Once the U.S. forces are evicted, they will be free to fight with the Sunnis until one side or the other installs an authoritarian regime to repress the other group.

Life goes on.
