More signs that the stranglehold the neocons had on Congress is loosening. I can't imagine this thing would have failed even a year ago.

I think the difference is the loss of Bug Man as party enforcer. The Eisenhower pubbies still left in that party no longer have to live in fear of retribution if their votes are outside neocon orthodoxy.

NAS is down 43...and the dow lost 70 points in the final hour yesterday...hmmmm.

on edit: that puts the dow down 193 points in the last 3 hours of trading.

The downward bounce has nothing to do with this vote - it is in reaction to 'Zarqawi' being killed. Those who know recognise this as being the end of a phase of the neocon war on the world, preparation for

the upcoming attack on Iran.

First thing I thought this AM when I heard the the talking head commenting that there was no boost to the market from 'Zarqawi' being killed, was that he would only be killed if we were ready to move on to something else -- like Iran -- and an attack on Iran would certainly depress the market.
