How dare anyone call liberals extremists?
Whenever I hear someone call Howard Dean or Michael Moore "extremists," "radicals," "hatemongers," or otherwise, all I can think of is, "Have you taken a look at your own party? The party of 'if you're not exactly like me, you don't deserve to live'?" Moore and Dean and other liberals might say or do controversial things but at least they don't blow up federal buildings full of preschoolers, protest funerals with "God hates______" signs, or spend all their time talking about how much they hate and want to kill political opponents, non-Christians, blacks, Jews, Muslims, poor people, etc. What was that thing Jesus said about "removing the log in your eye before pointing out the splinter in your neighbor's?" In short, how dare anyone say liberals are extremists when they, unlike conservatives, know how to solve problems without blowing them up or shooting them in the face?

put upon the others as you act yourself. Call the media liberal, when it is conservative. Call Moore a propagandist, when all RW radio does is discuss topics from an RNC fax, etc. etc. Call Liberals Godless and then trash widows.

Projection might be the term, although I only took 1 psychology class in college...

3. Dean and Moore aren't extremists.
Neither are many republicans, as we certainly cannot compare them all (or at least not fairly) to Phelps and the others you mention. There ARE liberal extremists, just like there are conservative extremists. I think we just need to ignore when that label is used on us and prove, as best we can, that no, we don't merit that label.

4. the newt gingrich playbook is still in action
dems have had 15 years to counter it & are barely beginning to grasp the techniques.

and countering it is very difficult when the opposition controls your access to the media.

5. It's proven a good strategy, unfortunately.
They've succeeded in pushin the country to the right so that even moderate liberals like Dean are seen as whackos - their real goal is to eliminate liberalism entirely, and they are pretty open about that.

6. Yep, that's what Coulter is all about, IMHO.
When the right is THAT far right, the "middle" is somewhere on top of Reagan.

7. I have an extreme love for our constitution
I let every "conservative" I come in contact with know it. I let them know of my military service and tell them when I wave the flag it means something. I tell them I'm happily married and do not fear gays getting married. I tell them bush is a drug addict and a military deserter and a corporate criminal. I piss them off to the extreme because I only tell the truth.

8. Democrats Should Just Answer the Lie Spontaneously, Not With an "Act"
I think this propaganda was allowed to get as far along as it has, because official Democrats never just got angry and responded with some honest answers to the "claim." Instead, they hired consultants and commercial-advertising managers and image consultants, and "framing" professors, and all the rest, and eventually had the whole issue so muddled and lost--with "presentations" and "counter-presentations," all designed to "appeal to" the "Heartland," etc. etc.--that they made themselves seem completely phony, and "guilty," but also never dealt with the original phony claim. This should have been knocked down, with no fanfare, a long time ago. Instead, Democrats panicked, didn't know what to do, and have been trying to "defend against the charge," rather than just getting rid of this shit and moving on with real legislating, long ago.

Not only did they have to deal with Republican liars and their coordinated corporate media, all with the same fake "too liberal"/"extremist" routine, but Democrats themselves were taken over, by then, by "D"LC, Inc., with its own "too liberal for America," "how the left lost America"--all these anti-Democratic Party lies--and so it seemed they were under attack from all sides, and just tried to comply and conform, to escape any more of it. These things are easily answered--by showing what a real extremist is, by showing that the majority of the American people agree with us on the issues, etc.--and all its takes is an ordinary, fed-up, "Oh, for God's sake, do you people have no real plan and have to resort to this forever?" attitude. This whole attack against us was made a lot more complicated--and effective--than it ever should have been, because all along, it was really stupid.
