The US support for criminal warlords in Somalia

A story on the NY Times this morning has been apparently eaten by the news breaking about the
killing of Zarquawi.

NYT reports that for the past several years the US via CIA has been supporting Warlords in Somalia
in a doomed effort to keep the Islamic movement from taking power. Of course, now the Islamic
militia HAS taken power (in the past couple weeks) and here we are again...

Not only did the USA apparently get in bed with vile, evil criminal killer warlords, but
it DIDN"T WORK!!!!!!!

I feel nauseous. For me I am sickened by the thought of a single dime of my tax money going
into the hands of these killers...that's the humanist left in me. I am also SICK of the idea
of wasting hundreds of thousands or millions of tax dollar on a plan that don't work....that's
the conservative in me.

When will the American people have enough?

I am ashamed and disgusted that we would even get near the thought of giving those murdering
heathens money.

I am afraid...(because I am a believer in KARMA) that we will have to pay for this sin

What in the frigging world do we tell the arab and muslim world who are not yet in Bin Laden's
camp to explain this???? HOLY MOSES!

OK ..yeah right...just send that achtung soccer mom Karen Hughes back over to win their hearts
and minds.

Am I overreacting here?

Ask the people in Chile, Vietnam, Cambodia, Grenada, Iran, or Central America. Death squads, coups, terrorism, wars on false premises, is SOP for the US and it doesn't seem to matter much which major party is in power. The old bogeyman of communism has been replaced by the new bogeyman of terrorism, but it is really all about keeping open access to natural resources and cheap labor for multinational corporations.
