Who cares anymore?
We can't trust a one of them.

Democrat or Republican.

Sure we can side with people we think are the lesser of two evils. Or who we ideologically on the surface think we are more like.

I'm a democrat damnit and I'm ashamed how they fold. How they vote for cloture then vote against a bill or confirmation. When is someone gonna stand up. When are they going to act like a united party instead of out for their own selfish interests. I know the replies I am going to get. People are gonna tell me that I'm not listening. Well they are right, I'm not listening anymore. I've listened to them enough. I'm watching now and have been for awhile. And I think they suck.

I'm not ready to go third party.

When are they going to take a stand? I don't know how much longer I can hold out.

I myself, with no expertise or background, could come up with strategic ideas to get a message out better than they can. But obviously they don't listen to us (me) anyhow.

They are not a party. They are single senators and congresspeople.

We fall for the immigration diversion, which is a way for them to look strong, yeah fight the preznit for security, while he can still pander for their vote. I just don't fuckin get it anymore.

Please help me feel better.

1. You need to consider getting truly involved.
Consider running for office. Perhaps for your state's legislature. Maybe for city council, or just the water board. Or help the campaign of someone running for local office. You will feel empowered, and if you or your candidate wins, you may effect a real change.

Do it.

2. I care
We the People... never have there been more powerful words. We can't just sit around bitching about the people we voted for (or didn't vote for), waiting for them to take a stand. This is OUR country, and if our elected leaders aren't getting the job done, then it's up to We the People to stand up.

Maybe we have been standing up for a while. Maybe we've been screaming until we lose our voice. Maybe it's true that those in power aren't hearing us for all our screaming. And maybe sometimes we need to sit back, take a rest, observe, replenish, and come back stronger than ever.

It's their job to hear us, yes, but it's OUR job to get the message to them. And we just need to keep trying. Support each other. Sometimes we may disagree, but our hearts are all still in the same place. And we shouldn't tear each other apart. Rather, work to inspire each other, cry with each other, celebrate with each other, give each other hope, and try to help each other find the positive in every situation. There is always some to be found, however small it may be.

We have an election coming up. And we have lots of work to do. Exhausting? Sure. Exhilarating? Definitely. Look at the time we're living in. This is not a boring ho-hum time in history. We are watching people wake up before our very eyes. And we get to make our place in history. Think REVOLUTION.

This is what REAL patriotism is all about.

3. I care, but I also agree entirely with your observations.
It's like we don't really have a party, just a loose assortment of free agents. Each is allowed from time to time to undercut all the rest for his/her own benefit. That means we can never present a united, coherent message. I wish I knew how to change that.

Getting rid of Lieberman in CT would be a start--that would send a loud and clear signal to those who would support the radical right from within our party.

Our country is worth caring about, even if doing so makes us frustrated.

7. I wish I knew what I could do too. Leiberman would be a great
start as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes I get another burst of energy and get back in the fight and then all of the sudden I have the same problem with our leaders.

I keep getting to the point of it being their lack of leadership and fight for the people. And I think that they must be corporatists too.

Can it be any simpler?

5. I care but there isn't anything I know of I can do.
It will take more people being able to see through things. By that time, it'll be too late to return to anything like we had before all this. There will be no real mechanism or vehicle in order to gain control and change things for the people.

6. I have the cure...
Study up on Tammy Duckworth. She's our future. You'll soon see she's in a fight for her life but can easily win if she gets a little help. Then, send her some cash get a big cold drink and reward yourself because you just helped to make the world a better place.

8. We have to get over the idea of "leaders". They aren't.
Politicians follow the money and the votes to get and retain power.

They are called "representatives" for a reason that has been forgotten. Representatives. Not "leaders".

The system has been corrupted by money and power.

You want to change the system? Vote selectively. Vote issues. If the person running for office doesn't represent you, don't vote for him or her. If they want your vote make them work for it. That's supposed to be their job.

I "trust" politicians to be politicians. For the most part, self-serving egotists with their hand out. Alas, I'm seldom disappointed.
