This shit pisses me off, but it might make some of you happy (immigration)
A 14-year-old Guatemalan girl and her 51-year-old mother were jailed for five weeks because it was discovered that they had been living in this country illegally. They had essentially traveled back and forth from Guatemala to Miami for seven years, building a life for themselves along with her father, who was granted political asylum in 2001 (making him LEGAL).

Meanwhile, the girl became an honors student and a cadet in her school's Navy JROTC unit. In fact, one of her JROTC instructors wrote that she represented “the very best in leadership.”

If that is where we're at right now, then I will gladly renounce my citizenship and leave this fucking country. Fuckers.

Alone
Francisco Puac of Boca Raton reminisces about his daughter Debora as he sits in her room. Debora and her mother, Sonia, were arrested upon their return from a trip to Guatemala for overstaying their tourist visas.

If this is what we've become, I'll join you.

I feel this way when I think about how this country treats homosexuals in the military, too.

For serving their country honorably and not being heterosexual, they get shamed and discharged.

god bless america

12. I don't think anybody here supports this...it's one thing to
ask for border security, which can be part of a workable system of easier legal citizenship, and living wages for all workers. In fact, we need border security. It makes sense to support border security. It's another thing altogether to not give our students a chance, and to be rounding up and deporting upstanding people.

10. This is an example of a picture being worth a thousand words
That girl represents what the USA is supposedly all about. Adopting and representing the country as if it were your own. Representing the country with pride and professionalism.

A person like that should be absorbed into our society, not shunned from it.

6. It doesn't matter how good you are,
How many people you helped, how many lives you saved or how much you contributed to society. If you broke some pissant little immigration law you have to pay.

Meanwhile a child rapist gets off with probation because the judge thinks his short stature would make jail too dangerous for him. :grr:

7. Remember
Under the leadership of the shrub, black is white and night is day, and child rapists need to be protected while 14-year-old honor students need to be incarcerated.

It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world.

Court Denies Stay of Deportation for Kansas City-Area Mother

June 9, 2006 05:36 PM

By GARANCE BURKE
Associated Press Writer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has denied a Missouri mother's request for a stay in her deportation, a penalty she faces because courts found she lied about her citizenship when she crossed the border from Mexico years ago, her attorney said Friday.

The plight of Myrna Dick, 32, now rests with the U.S. Supreme Court, which is considering whether to rehear her case, the lawyer said. But unless the high court decides to grant Dick additional time in the country in the next 24 hours, she will spend her last day in the U.S. tomorrow, said Bob Zoller, her husband's uncle.

Dick's husband and 19-month-old son are American citizens. While Dick was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, she has lived the majority of her life in the United States, first in Texas and most recently on a cul-de-sac in Raymore, a Kansas City suburb.

"The legal system is dispassionate," Zoller said in a telephone interview from San Diego, where Dick was meeting with staff from the Mexican consulate. "But her best hope now is a political solution because that's where you can temper the law with compassion."

17. She also claims it was mistaken identity
and she didn't lie about her citizenship at the border crossing (that's why she is being deported). And get this - she was 'discovered' when she applied for permanent citizenship.

It's a really sad story. The US Congressman for this area had been involved, last I heard. But it looks like he couldn't do anything to help her.

If you watch the video, you can hear her saying something about "pro life policies". :grr:

Also this story doesn't mention this, but her husband is staying in the US. Mexico won't let him stay there.

Yeah. What a way to solve the immigration problem. Split up families.

21. It's muddled and hard to hear
I can just make out "pro-life policies".

She sounds like a smart woman.

And really, how dumb is this? She came here as a child, was educated here, is living the all American life, and so we deport her?? Gee I wonder if the US will send her a bill for her education.

til all the victims who lived it will be long-dead...our great great-grandchildren will be shaking their heads and wondering what we were thinking, to condone such policies.

Both of these articles make me sick and ashamed!

16. That's Fuckin Horrible.
Every day I read news stories from everywhere on all different topics, and there are so many fucked up things happening to good and decent people. It is just too goddamn depressing sometimes. I wish I could spare all these good people the shit they have to go through at the expense of ignorance and stupidity, but I can't. I just wish people could just be left the fuck alone sometimes.

24. Where's all the Republican fucktards
who squalled endlessly about Elian on TV and the floor of Congress? Miserable bastards.

Day by day, the health of this country is being eroded by shit like this and the new onerous burdens and harassment of legit visa holders. We're closing one of the prime vessels that delivered the lifeblood of our strength and prosperity. The idiot masses don't give it a second thought, because hey, we're Americans and America will always be great and if you don't believe that, you can get the fuck out.
