Celibrating 625 years since the peasant revolt
The peasant revolt of 1381 was a groundbreaking movement in the
history of ango-civil rights and people's democracy. In memory of
the thousands of persons who lost their lives fighting for the rights
we now take for granted today, this thread celibrates their battle.

This audio lecture (scroll down) is an outstanding introduction to what
that revolt was about:

Chronology in text:

The peasant revolt was the first rebellion against the monopolists in
western history, and in that spirit, God bless Wat Tyler, John Ball and
Jack Straw (the real one).

1. GREAT lecture!
It's obvious things haven't changed all that much for us. Oh, we have more toys than they did in 1381, but the conditions of our lives are much the same.

Only now it's governments and corporations rather than the king, the church, and the monopolist.

5. It is outstanding
I've heard it a few times, and it is really inspiring to hear, each time.

Offical british history erases the "monopolist", and tells the story more
like they put down an insurgency... and why the BBC does not report the
truth about the peasant revolt like that lecture does.

I'm glad you liked it, i'm sure many persons here would really like it as well.

:-)

4. A Century of War
Rummy and the DOD represented at the Pentagon have now shifted from "The War on Terror" to calling
our military engagement in the ME "The Long War".
