Poll question: Is Bush's war for oil a war for the oil itself, for oil prices or for both
When Bush and Cheney concocted the whole thing, was their goal to actually acquire Iraq's oil or was it just a well-planned scheme to simply raise oil prices to levels so obscene that the already filty-rich would get even richer in the shortest possible time? Or was it a little bit of both?

Is their mission accomplished, or is it only partly accomplished because they vastly underestimated the opposition?

1. OTHER: None of the above.
It was a war for BUSINESS. It was a blatant theft of the assets of a nation; the oil fields, the telecommunications infrastructure, everything. Remember the scene in F9/11 where they were at the trade show, selling people on the various business opportunities? This was the ultimate Hostile Takeover. Nothing more, nothing less.

2. Right on...
it was a gift to the military industrial machine, the big money government contractors, and the oil barons. All you have to do is look at who Bush placed in the high level positions of his cabinet, and it all makes sense.

3. It is strictly for war profiteering and politics
The more money that can be given to huge Republican donors the more liklihood Republicans will keep control. War is good business for Republicans. Always has been always will be. Oil is only a part of the whole. The main part is redistributing America's wealth to the wealthy and by doing that Republicans stay in control..

4. Just a continuation of the expansion
that started hundreds of years ago. This is what every empire does, and every empire eventually dies. It's like a star; the bigger it is, the more energy it uses, the further it expands, and the quicker it dies. We have a world wide global system. The first truly global one in the history of human civilization. We've done it through military force from day one. We were going to physically go into the Middle East sooner or later. I know, I know, many have tried, and even the British failed. If there is one thing about human history, it's that when you're talking about a center of power expanding, learning from history has nothing to do with anything.

5. One of the orignal theories,
which preceeded the war, was that the USA's actual intention was to increase Iraq's output to maximum capacity and by vastly increasing supply so screw OPEC - would've broken OPEC's ability to control pricing and driven the price of oil down to maybe $10 - $15 / barrel. Assuming this to be true, as it is as least plausible, the USA obviously hadn't reckoned with what has become lovingly known as the insurgency. It still could be the ultimate plan.

6. Other. A war to avenge Poppy.
Junior believes that SH tried to kill his worthless daddy. Thus, he started the war to attain revenge. The peripheral benefit was making mega-dollars of blood money for his corrupt, evil friends.

This war was all about the Bush family vs. SH. It could have been easily settled man-to-man. Instead, little cowardly Bush-boy sent others to fight for him and murder thousands of innocent bystanders in the process. Their blood will be forever on his despicable hands.
