6. Malloy was on this last night
There was a story, I think by Reuters, indicating that the attack was actually carried out by helicopters and troops. Totally inconsistent with the Pentagon story about the smart bomb attack.

42. I don't see how he could survive a 500 lb bomb.
Unless he wasn't in the building they bombed, but in a nearby building.

9. TWO five-hundred-pound bombs on ONE house, and he was ALIVE?
They must build some goddamned strong houses over there in Iraq. We should hire some Iraqis to rebuild New Orleans; if a house is that strong a hurricane wouldn't bother it none, would it?

48. A very strong material to build a house from if done properly
we have tornado's here and the houses that are built with a steel frame with a masonry exterior sure fare much better than the wood framed ones do.

13. "We just don't have that granularity."
Huh?

A reporter asked the Pentagon spokesman how on earth al-Zarq could possibly have survived two 500lb bombs. They guys smiled and said "I asked that question, too." Then said "he could have been outside. We don't know. "We just don't have that granularity."

Maybe not, but I think W has some powder or rock.

17. "Granularity"
Just a fancy way of saying "The photos ain't all too clear. Oh, some dude stepped outside for a piss, might have been him, but the bombs was incomin', so he was kinda lucky." :sarcasm:

If he were outside at the time, the blast wave from just one 500lb alone might be enough to kill him in such a manner that would allow him to survive the blast, but die shortly after the event.

18. Yesterday, they said he died after being handed over to the Iraqis
"Zarqawi was apparently injured at first... The Americans found him. They handed him over to the Iraqis and he later died of his injuries," ABC said.

Some of what you hear is true, some is not.

Zarqawi is dead as a result of the US bombing him.

All you are finding out today are the specific details that were not available yesterday (except to ABC who seemed to have a better source than the other media outlets).

38. No, the first official version is correct.
First version: US bombed Zarqawi, and he died.
New version: US bombed Zarqawi, he lived for a short while, and then he died.

2nd version has more details than the first, but it does not refute it or change its facts materially.

46. Bullshit. The facts withheld from the first version change it materially.
Even if we play your little game, the second version shows that he was captured alive.

Once captured, a number of laws come into play that appear to have been violated.

47. Especially if it appears he was shot after capture.
which, as the story develops, that seems to be one of the claims, as well as photoshopping the original picture.

as I suspected, correctly, a whole lot of spin goin on, here.

They asked him point blank the penguin had been shot, and he said he didn't know.

50. he would have known.
Knowing whether he was shot, or not, would be of tantamount importance. no way he could be hazy about it either way.

other questions: if he survived until later, why photograph him on the ground amid the rubble? Why admit to photoshopping the pic?
