Not giving them the proper medical care to deal with PTSD, another great way to show support for the troops. Maybe she thinks sending soldiers back to the warzone, two, three times, is supporting them? Or doing nothing to help the already homeless veterans of THIS war. Enriching the war-profiteers, like Cheney eg, or Duke Cunningham and Defense Contractor friends, by millions and millions of dollars probably really is 'supporting the troops'.


I would love to have a conversation with this woman ... if she has any intelligence at all, it should take no more than 30 minutes to shatter all of her delusions about this administration. And with proof. She wouldn't get to just throw out RNC talking points, or her own opinion.

Surely someone as supportive of the troops can tell us what she is doing about the homeless, the wounded, getting their benefits raised, making sure they do not lose their jobs when they get. She surely has been watching out for their families while they are away?

I'd be willing to bet she's got a 'support the troops' sticker and a flag flying somewhere. I'd like to know what buying all that stuff from China has done to support the troops while we're at it.

Hey, WND lurkers, listen up. The USA has had over 12 years of disastrous right-wing Republican congressional policy and over six years of what Buckaroo Bush and your fellow "conservatives" have shoved down the nation's throat. The US is far less prosperous and secure than it was when former president William Jefferson Clinton was in the driver's seat, and that's ignoring what looks like an incipient recession.

If we weren't winning friends, influencing people and advancing liberal causes, they wouldn't care what we're saying, and thus there would be no mention of us. Instead, they're starting to take shots at us in a vain attempt to halt our good work. So really, in a very backhanded way, this sort of recognition is a compliment.

This is how she characterizes *'s war on a common noun, without enumerating the alleged successes. She's enchanted by Zarqawi's death because he's a celebrity. She doesn't know whether the execution of six people, including a woman and a child, is going to slow the killing in Iraq. Until that question is answered, no one can trumpet this as a success.

So what, exactly, was won yesterday? What will be the result of Zarqawi's death? Is it more than just another round in a brutal game of Tag? If what Ms. Morgan is lauding isn't a solution, then isn't she just supporting continued violence? Trading a chance for real progress for a warm 'n' fuzzy moment?

The most "hopeful" outcome of Zarqawi's death would be a limited reduction of the sectarian violence now plaguing Iraq. Perhaps the new government would be able to begin to impose a measure of law and order. This would definitely be a good thing for the male half of Iraq's population.

Nevertheless, the new government will continue to be dominated by a Shi'ite majority with ties to the anti-American, theocratic Islamic Republic of Iran. This new Iraq will not shift into being an American ally as neo-conservative theoreticians and right-wing propagandists have predicted, but into being at least a good friend of hostile, unfriendly Iran.

Incidentally, the rights women had under the secular-minded Iraq that existed before 2003 are likely to vanish as new laws based on Shar'ia are enacted and imposed.

This is only the BEST result we Americans can expect, thanks to Buckaroo Bush's bungling and the "Conservative"/Banana Republican's successful efforts to freeze out dissenting voices who rightly were more skeptical of the proposed invasion and that invasion's probable outcome. The worst we can expect is a chaotic, faction-plagued, war-wracked no-man's-land like Somalia, a playground for terrorists and a growing whirlpool of chaos likely to spread West and South into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Syria.

Heads up, right-wing lurkers. This is NO victory for the US or US corporate interests. This is a disaster. It's a much bigger disaster for the US than Mao's revolution in 1949, Castro's takeover of Cuba in 1960, and the fall of the puppet regimes in Indo-China in 1975.

And the making and the implementation of this disaster has right-wing fingerprints all over it. It's a right-wing FUBAR--YOU made it, YOU own it!

They got him -- the big, bad, beheading berserker in Iraq. But, something's gone unreported in all the glee over getting Zarqawi … who invited him into Iraq in the first place?

If you prefer your fairy tales unsoiled by facts, read no further. If you want the uncomfortable truth, begin with this: A phone call to Baghdad to Saddam's Palace on the night of April 21, 2003. It was Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on a secure line from Washington to General Jay Garner.

The General had arrives in Baghdad just hours before to take charge of the newly occupied nation. The message from Rumsfeld was not a heartwarming welcome. Rummy told Garner, Don't unpack, Jack -- you're fired.

What had Garner done? The many-starred general had been sent by the President himself to take charge of a deeply dangerous mission. Iraq was tense but relatively peaceful. Garner's job was to keep the peace and bring democracy.
