Wingnuts swiftboating DU (mentions posters by name)
snip...

Across the websites and message boards of liberal America yesterday were cries of protest from many about the news that Zarqawi's reign of terror, murder and violence had come to an end.

At the Democratic Underground website, users attempted to manipulate MSNBC's online poll to suggest that the mission to kill Zarqawi would be meaningless in the war in Iraq. Whether or not the death of Zarqawi will have a major impact on the war effort is beside the point. The efforts by liberals to manipulate a poll so as to beat down the morale of the American people and make them believe we can't win is revolting. There is a sickness that has infected the anti-war movement.

Other liberals at Democratic Underground were foaming at the mouth with indignation about the mission to kill Zarqawi: "He's a fictitious character," said the poster "ShortnFiery." Another poster named "wizdum" agreed: "… I never believed in this pat story of al-Qaida in Iraq. It set off my ******** meter right from the get go."

Meanwhile, at another liberal website named Daily Kos, some liberals were outright upset that the military had chosen to kill a terrorist. "Bush's idea of justice is bombs falling out of the sky?" asked a user named "Justice."

Another user named "ronik" expressed a similar sentiment: "If you agree with this killing, do you also agree with lynchings because people 'knew' the person was guilty and should be put to death? Also, do you support the death penalty? I don't, but at least those people have been put on trial. Why should it be different for this person?"

1. I have to be true and honest
I truly, honestly don't give two shits what World News Daily has to say about anything. The lunatic rantings they manage to slap out with their thalidomide-damaged flippers in Mommy's basement while getting fucked in the ass by Daddy of the Week just don't rise to the level of notice. I reserve my pity for the poor electrons forced to line up to try to make something coherent out of their incoherent squirts of bile.

Melanie Morgan is chairman of the conservative, pro-troop non-profit organization Move America Forward and is co-host of the "Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Show" on KSFO 560 AM in San Francisco.

Her email is: mmorgan@wnd.com

And Melanie, make sure you spell my user name correctly.

36. There are and all of them are in the WH with a substantial number in
the Republican Party itself. I guess she calls being 'pro-troop' sending them to die in a war based on lies. Cutting their beneifits while they're over there risking their lives is very supportive, I'm sure.

Not giving them the proper medical care to deal with PTSD, another great way to show support for the troops. Maybe she thinks sending soldiers back to the warzone, two, three times, is supporting them? Or doing nothing to help the already homeless veterans of THIS war. Enriching the war-profiteers, like Cheney eg, or Duke Cunningham and Defense Contractor friends, by millions and millions of dollars probably really is 'supporting the troops'.

I would love to have a conversation with this woman ... if she has any intelligence at all, it should take no more than 30 minutes to shatter all of her delusions about this administration. And with proof. She wouldn't get to just throw out RNC talking points, or her own opinion.

Surely someone as supportive of the troops can tell us what she is doing about the homeless, the wounded, getting their benefits raised, making sure they do not lose their jobs when they get. She surely has been watching out for their families while they are away?

I'd be willing to bet she's got a 'support the troops' sticker and a flag flying somewhere. I'd like to know what buying all that stuff from China has done to support the troops while we're at it.

37. Melanie Morgan, "a monstrously stupid woman" according to
the article linked below. Here's a few other appropriately descriptive phrases about her, all from the same article:

"hideous, ignorant stupid freak"

an "amazingly moronic douchebag"

"an asshole"

The "Truth Tour" has been pulled together by the conservative Web cast radio group Rightalk.com and Move America Forward, a non-profit conservative group backed by a Republican-linked public relations firm in California.

"The reason why we are doing it is we are sick and tired of seeing and hearing headlines by the mainstream media about our defeat in Iraq," Melanie Morgan, a talk radio host (search) for KSFO Radio in San Francisco and co-chair of Move America Forward, said.

Morgan said the media is "imposing a Vietnam template on this war."

"This amazingly moronic douchebag should go down to Arlington sometime, wait around for a military funeral, and tell the bereaved that their loved ones died for the right template, not the the Viet Nam one.

Maybe she could bring an actual cardboard cut out template to show them."

Since Melanie likes to look at DU and make idiotic comments about us, maybe she needs to see her name in a few thread titles, too........DU style ;)

10. WND? Say, Weren't They The Guys Who...
WND? Say, weren't they the guys who co-operated with Buckaroo Bush and America's dear "friends" the Saudis to downplay alternate energy development and play up continuing dependence on (mostly imported) foreign oil?

Wasn't WND one of the major cheerleaders for bogging US troops down in Iraq, thus leaving the US short in Somalia and leaving international terrorists like Osama bin Laden at large?

And wasn't WND one of those right-wing organs that used to tout the theme of "personal accountability" (Even while ignoring the odd skeleton in 2006 Dear Leader's closet), then changed the subject after January 21st, 2001?

Hey, WND lurkers, listen up. The USA has had over 12 years of disastrous right-wing Republican congressional policy and over six years of what Buckaroo Bush and your fellow "conservatives" have shoved down the nation's throat. The US is far less prosperous and secure than it was when former president William Jefferson Clinton was in the driver's seat, and that's ignoring what looks like an incipient recession.

If we weren't winning friends, influencing people and advancing liberal causes, they wouldn't care what we're saying, and thus there would be no mention of us. Instead, they're starting to take shots at us in a vain attempt to halt our good work. So really, in a very backhanded way, this sort of recognition is a compliment.

So keep up the good work DUers, we're starting to get to the bastards:evilgrin:

If 'they' feel the need to come here, and quote select posts, to justify their positions- me thinks 'they' may be feeling abit insecure, and desperate for validation.

And I believe Gandhi was right- we already have won. Because we haven't 'become them'. And the rejection of using the tactics we claim to abbhor is evidence of that-

Which must frustrate the hell out of them-

25. "Spot-on right."
This is how she characterizes *'s war on a common noun, without enumerating the alleged successes. She's enchanted by Zarqawi's death because he's a celebrity. She doesn't know whether the execution of six people, including a woman and a child, is going to slow the killing in Iraq. Until that question is answered, no one can trumpet this as a success.

So what, exactly, was won yesterday? What will be the result of Zarqawi's death? Is it more than just another round in a brutal game of Tag? If what Ms. Morgan is lauding isn't a solution, then isn't she just supporting continued violence? Trading a chance for real progress for a warm 'n' fuzzy moment?

33. The Probable Results of Zarqawi's Death--Best Face
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 11:01 AM by VogonGlory
The most "hopeful" outcome of Zarqawi's death would be a limited reduction of the sectarian violence now plaguing Iraq. Perhaps the new government would be able to begin to impose a measure of law and order. This would definitely be a good thing for the male half of Iraq's population.

Nevertheless, the new government will continue to be dominated by a Shi'ite majority with ties to the anti-American, theocratic Islamic Republic of Iran. This new Iraq will not shift into being an American ally as neo-conservative theoreticians and right-wing propagandists have predicted, but into being at least a good friend of hostile, unfriendly Iran.

Incidentally, the rights women had under the secular-minded Iraq that existed before 2003 are likely to vanish as new laws based on Shar'ia are enacted and imposed.

This is only the BEST result we Americans can expect, thanks to Buckaroo Bush's bungling and the "Conservative"/Banana Republican's successful efforts to freeze out dissenting voices who rightly were more skeptical of the proposed invasion and that invasion's probable outcome. The worst we can expect is a chaotic, faction-plagued, war-wracked no-man's-land like Somalia, a playground for terrorists and a growing whirlpool of chaos likely to spread West and South into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Syria.

Heads up, right-wing lurkers. This is NO victory for the US or US corporate interests. This is a disaster. It's a much bigger disaster for the US than Mao's revolution in 1949, Castro's takeover of Cuba in 1960, and the fall of the puppet regimes in Indo-China in 1975.

And the making and the implementation of this disaster has right-wing fingerprints all over it. It's a right-wing FUBAR--YOU made it, YOU own it!

38. we invited him to Iraq instead
UNREPORTED: THE ZARQAWI INVITATION
by Greg Palast
http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_greg_pal_060609_unreported_3a_the_zarq.htm

They got him -- the big, bad, beheading berserker in Iraq. But, something's gone unreported in all the glee over getting Zarqawi … who invited him into Iraq in the first place?

If you prefer your fairy tales unsoiled by facts, read no further. If you want the uncomfortable truth, begin with this: A phone call to Baghdad to Saddam's Palace on the night of April 21, 2003. It was Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on a secure line from Washington to General Jay Garner.

The General had arrives in Baghdad just hours before to take charge of the newly occupied nation. The message from Rumsfeld was not a heartwarming welcome. Rummy told Garner, Don't unpack, Jack -- you're fired.

What had Garner done? The many-starred general had been sent by the President himself to take charge of a deeply dangerous mission. Iraq was tense but relatively peaceful. Garner's job was to keep the peace and bring democracy.

Unfortunately for the general, he took the President at his word. But the general was wrong. "Peace" and "Democracy" were the slogans.

"My preference," Garner told me in his understated manner, "was to put the Iraqis in charge as soon as we can and do it in some form of elections."

But elections were not in The Plan.

31. Speaking of distortions and MSRNC...
Did you notice the poll was set up in such a way
as to encourage people to pick the choice they
wanted to win?

Did you also notice they'd tried to "split" the
negative responses so as to bring the overall
percentages in the same range?

I did... It was a manipulative poll and somehow
people still managed to get the message... "Yeah,
he's gone, but, we doubt the streets will now be
paved with gold." across. I was very proud of all
140,000 of them (When I looked.)
