WASHINGTON, D.C. -- United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) issued the following statement today in response to remarks made by right-wing pundit and author Ann Coulter.

"Ms. Coulter's shameless attack on the victims of the worst act of terrorism in American history can only engender disgust at her tasteless statements when she asserts that their husbands' deaths bring them joy. Her bookselling antics and accompanying vulgarity deserve our deepest contempt.

Her foul remarks trivialize the deaths of every single person who died that terrible day, including the lives of those brave police officers and firefighters who ran into those burning buildings," said Senator Lautenberg

AC strikes me as one of those cowardly girls around the playground, who would hit a boy and knew that the boy wouldn't hit her back because of the rule that "boys don't hit girls" or something like that. It's that kind of attitude of acting outrageous, outre, and out of bounds without the expectation of accountability that is indeed shocking as far as one aspect of Ann Coulter that is unseemly and unacceptable.

Someone of stature had to call her out on this last antic of going after 9-11 widows. Thank you Senator Lautenberg and Senator Clinton. A congressional resolution would be nicer.
