Name the liberal equivalent to Ann Coulter or Pat Robertson.
An exercise in futility. Name just one left-wing public figure who calls for assassinations or personally attacks grieving widows and mothers.

Take your time, folks.

ward churchill doesn't toss around racial epithets. his 'little eichmans' comments was directed at a generic collective, rather than a personnel smear. i defend him, though i understand the anger. but he's a true intellectual and people bothered to read his entire body of work, they'd see he's hardly sinilar to coulter

24. Wasn't funny at all, nor was my post meant to be funny. . .
Jim Jones was a very active and strong proponent of the Democratic Party and liberal ideals, and, like the OP asked, Jim Jones definitely fits the mold of homicidal whack job -- and he was a religious leader, too.

Jonestown could not have occurred without the idiosyncratic and intensely driven personality of Jim Jones, who came to his calling early. When Jones was a boy, a neighbor recalled, "He could preach a good sermon.... He would have about ten youngsters in there, and he would...line them up and make them march. He'd hit them with a stick and they'd scream and cry." They always came back to play the next day, however, and Jones cultivated his identity as a powerful religious leader all his life. In Protestant fundamentalist Indiana, Jones became a pastor by age 19, and the Peoples Temple he began six years later in 1956 contained in microcosm the organizational strategies he would later practice in more bizarre and violent ways. His bogus, emotionally charged faith healings were offset by religious unorthodoxy, a socialist, multiracial vision and a commitment to welfare service that included a soup kitchen, animal shelter, job training and elder care. Even in Indiana, Jones demanded unquestioning loyalty, creating an interrogation committee to root out and punish the deviant; he also learned there to charm the liberal political establishment. His accusations that his wife and black son had been spat upon and dead animals thrown at the church were the first in what became constant claims of persecution. Finally, his removal of his Midwest faithful to Ukiah, California, was a precursor to his move to Guyana. Expanding his congregation in California, he pursued an undeviating line of purpose that reached its own apocalypse in Jonestown.

<snip>

Before he became infamous for leading 913 people to their deaths in the Guyanese jungle, the Rev. 59. Would you unpack that a bit, please?
I guess that feels sort of like saying, "DU, or some of them anyway." PeTA is a group of minority voices, not an individual. I haven't agreed with everything said or done by every poster here, or even with our most public voices, say Skinner or Pitt; have you? The fact that some members do some dumb or misguided stuff doesn't change the mission of the organization.

You are correct that they don't have nearly the media access of Coulter or Robertson. As far as I know, PeTA has never called for the execution of anyone. And while Robertson and Coulter regularly campaign to take away others' rights, who does PeTA seek to disenfranchise? Cockfighters? Puppy mill operators?

Frankly, I'm not thrilled with PeTA's antics sometimes, but don't believe that they deserve to be placed in a position of equivalence with two of the loudest and most hateful media forces in our nation.

Hilary Clinton is an intelligent, educated woman with a serious resume. She has had a long marriage, successful despite its problems. She raised an accomplished daughter. She looks fine for a woman her age.

So there could be an anonymous, unpublished, politically liberal individual who likewise is detached from reality and/or so consumed with hatred that they are writing the "liberal equivalent" of Coulter's inane ramblings.

But who would want to read it?

47. off the top of my head....
Alan Hevesi, the NY state comptroller who made the "bullet between the eyes" remark about Bush last week.
Michael Moore, of course.
E.L.F. and A.L.F.
Quannel X or almost any other member of the New Black Panther Party.
And any member of Bill Maar's round table (except the weekly, lone conservative that never opens his/her mouth).

Is there a difference between saying that "a 9/11 widow is enjoying her new celebrity" and saying "your criminal, soldier son died while carrying out an unjust, illegal activity"? I would imagine that's equally hurtful....
Since I only spent about 1 minute coming up with those names, I'm sure I could list many, many more if I had time.

Difference here is that you want a full-time pundit. Most of the loony-left comes from one-timers that are never heard from again. The loony-right usually has a pulpit and a full-time job spewing their idiocy. And, of course, the ideology alone would prevent the left from really speaking their minds. If a bleeding-heart, hand-wringing, p.c. liberal says something violent, they lose all credibility in their touchy-feely agenda. That's why they embrace the anarchists.

By the way, who-ever said Ted Rall...that's a good one. I forgot about that guy.

You are not allowed to say Bill Maher if you can't spell his name. :P Tony Snow never talked? Want a copy off my TiVo to prove that lie?

Moore never said anything half as hateful as Coulter, and never called for the assasination of anybody. Try again. He's not in the same league. Being strong in your beliefs doesn't equal hatred.

Why am I trying here? You just drank toio much Kool-Aid to be reasoned with.:eyes:

51. you're right.
at least about the spelling of Bill Maher's name....and my mention of his show was in jest.

Read the original post....it doesn't say "liberal" it says "left" and I doubt that the New Black Panther party is voting Republican.

ELF (Earth Liberation Front) and ALF (Animal Liberation Front) are eco-terrorists. Google them if you want to know who they are.

Michael Moore may be strong in his beliefs, but I don't think that gives him the right to slander, name-call and misrepresent the positions and thoughts of others in wide-release motion pictures. If you read the original post, you'll see that you don't have to advocate assassination to be listed....you just need to be an a**hole to people who don't deserve it.

The criminal soldier comment is a summary comparison. Left-wing war protestors are commonly heard and seen calling our soldiers killers, rapists and all-around criminals. If you don't think that's hurtful and enraging to the friends and family of armed forces, you're wrong.

Funny thing I've noticed about Kool Aid; those who consume the most seem to accuse the rest of over-consumption.
I happen to be a VERY moderate person and I think most would see that from my first post.

Nice that you can conveniently ignore that fact. Left wing doesn't mean "leftist" either.

Answer my question. Don't speculate that you "doubt" the BPs vote Republican. PROVE IT. You made the charge, you prove it. What are their party memberships?

Regarding the eco-terrorists. Prove their affiliation with the Democratic Party. Find one quote from any elected Democratic Politician that praised the spiking of trees and the tossing of blood on fur coats.

Moore? Quote a proveable lie he's said about Bush or his administration in F9/11 or his media appearances plugging it. Name calling? You better come up with something equivelant to "Scumbag" or used condom, which Coulter called President Clinton in 1999.

Summary comparisons by what you percieve to be said, are not actual quotes, and thus is considered out of context slander. You have no case to say such a thing.

You have not proven your "VERY moderate" position. Your serious lack of facts smells like right wing propaganda talking points, and that is not anywhere near moderate. Buying into the right wing's placing these eco terrorists and Black Panthers into the Democratic camp is not moderate. All that proves is that you don't listen to Democrats. You just listen to Republicans talk about Democrats.

58. Volkert van der Graaf? He killed Pim Fortuyn
Facing a raucous court on the first day of his murder trial, he said his goal was to stop Mr Fortuyn exploiting Muslims as "scapegoats" and targeting "the weak parts of society to score points" to try to gain political power.

He said: "I confess to the shooting. He was an ever growing danger who would affect many people in society. I saw it as a danger. I hoped that I could solve it myself.

Yeah, you have to go quite far to find one. He ends up in jail, of course, not being feted by anyone. And he wasn't a public figure, so I admit I've failed too.
