CNN.com: Thank NSA spying on Americans for getting Zarqawi?
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/06/09/iraq.al.zarqawi/index.html

"BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Intelligence from cell phone technology helped U.S. forces find and kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said an Iraqi army colonel Friday in an exclusive interview with CNN."

While they don't come right out and say it, I think the fact that they left the spying vague is intended to provide justification for spying on Americans.

Fucking shills.

4. Oh crap! Were those telemarketers actually al-Qaeda? Well, then
I'm glad they were listening in on my phone calls. Death is too good for those fucking telemarketers. I mean terrorists.

3. Just saw this
you beat me to the punch.

I'll be waiting to see how this played out, and whether it involves a US phone number.

7. That's gonna be their cover - it probably DOESN'T...
... involve a US number. But they'll STILL use it to justify spying on Americans.

And CNN is right there helping them.

12. I know
But I'm gonna sit back and watch the lies. I'm sure it had nothing at all to do with a US number.

5. Its probably a geographical location revealed through a cell.
People forget that whenever you have a cell with you your location can be observed, whether or not GPS is built in and transmitting, your position can be triangulated through pings to cell towers. Somebody I know well worked on this technology at AT&T. NSA is certainly tracking this "public" information as well.

9. No, silly, it was his misfire video, and his captured friends
...but I guess that was yesterday before they figured they could get more political mileage out of phone records.

some good info by listening in.. but just like in Canada.. they could do just as fine a job with warrants. Sure in an immediate emmergency get the warrants later. Sure - check out words like "****" or "******" on the internet. But really - no need for no oversight except that someone group covets more and more and more.

Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 05:28 PM by zbdent
that they said they were going to pay out?

If it was a terrorist they were listening to, why are we going to give a terrorist $25,000,000?????

CNN proves that righties can't keep two thoughts inside their heads at the same time . . .

17. Cell phones in Baghdad?
That still doesn't give them the right to spy on Americanos.

And, zarqawi's dead..that's not going to stop the massacre in Iraq.

I don't buy their lies or their logic.
