Will Jon Stewart have Coulter on his show and should he?
He has every other right wing nut on his show. He has had Bill Bennett and Bill Krystol. I wonder if he will have her on. I hope he doesn't allow it to happen. It would be stooping quite low IMO but if he does I am sure he will tear her a new one. It may even be somethng worth watching but I won't. Someone has to stand for something and Jon usually does. IMO he should in no way help her sell any books by giving her any more visibility than she already has.

1. I think it would be ok if
he showed her up for the lying, hypocritical, fool that she is--and then made her cry

2. I think he should steer clear of the Coultergeist (love that nick!)
She's not all that important. Just a novelty item.

3. No to ann. Lock the door
why skew the media even more to the RW? it is time for more LW media. Dont dilute what little we have, with RW guests. Let them go elsewhere. Jon should invite one of the dozens of fine LW authors.. like Palast. etc etc.

Ann is insane. CNN should be ashamed of having that lunatic on yesterday.

4. Not for interview by him
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 07:03 AM by muriel_volestrangler
He interviews right wingers who can explain their case and defend their points. The raving right wingers on The Daily Show get interviewed in the spoof spots, if they don't quite realise what's going on. Now, I think Coulter is actually quite intelligent, and knows exactly hows she's playing to the prejudices of right wing nutters to fleece them of their money, so I doubt she'd fall for it. But she's not a suitable candidate for Stewart's interviews.

Naked oil wrestling w/ Coulter? When Dubya dies and goes to Hell, that'll probably be his punishment.

9. Judging from her recent appearances...
..with Lou Dobbs being the latest, I would guess she refuses to go on any show that does not agree to coddle her. I hope Jon does not agree to it.

26. Yes, that's right, he did
One of the first times I ever saw a clip of TDS was on the old "Talk Soup" show on E! There was a clip of Jon talking with some old lady who was supposedly running for president (in 2000) The old lady started singing "My Vagina, Your Vagina They are very fine" (or something like that. Coulter was on split screen and she looked livid. It was hilarious!

15. I'd rather see her go on Colbert.
I think his style is particularly well adapted to her sort. He would turn the exchange into an enormous parody. Jon Stewart actually tries to have reasoned and respectful discussions with guests, and I don't think that would be an effective tactic with the coultergeist.

She already has a platform on the major media, so it would be nice to see her with people who would not let her off the hook. I wish KO had guests on his show, since he would probably eat her alive.

17. I agree. Coulter is a malignant farce and Colbert's arsenal is perfect
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 08:36 AM by TahitiNut
His verbal ju-jitsu is exactly the parody of extremism she'd be wrong-footed by. She relies on being the more outrageous ... and he'd swipe that from her and show her for the farce she is. He'd be able to prepare for here quite adequately ... since it's not like she changes what she says. She plays the same ol' tune all the time - going back to when she was on Maher's PI.

21. Excellent idea--and the clueless RWers, many of whom haven't caught on to
Colbert, would be none the wiser and still believe he's their ally.

I love this--Colbert would be perfect.

22. Jon is the one person who could put her in her place PERFECTLY!
He is so great at besting these wingnuts with his brilliant, yet amusing logic that they don't know what hit them! Remember what he did to Bill Bennett the other night. Jon squelched Bennett so perfectly and even had Bennett laughing and I'm sure it was only after he left the show that Bennett realized he had been had!

24. By *not* having her on the show to interview,
and only showcasing her pre-meditated lunacy via clips and Jon's words, Coulter remains an object of ridicule without allowing her a platform to further her rancid goals of hate-mongering.

32. Stewart or Letterman would both CRUSH her.
She can barely stand up to Matt Lauer. She could barely come out of his standard interview without stumbling and bumbling and looking like a deer in headlights. Now imagine her being questioned by Stewart or Letterman with a crowd behind them..

34. Al Franken debated her several months ago.
I didn't see or hear it but I'm sure he wiped the floor with her. She wants to do more debates with him. Al says she's such a horrible person he doesn't want to give her any more publicity. Seems about right.

37. Al's too polite.
He acts too much like its an actual debate with an actual human being.

I didn't read a transcript, but I did read a fairly comprehensive summation of the event. Al is much better debating with human beings.

so of course I think this would be a good idea. Aside from that, the more she's out there and spewing her crap, the better. Coin the term "Coulter Republicans" and use it often.
