Out for dinner last night
and the freeper at the next table was laying it out for his date. I've noticed that conservatives like to talk about what liberals "think". I guess this make them feel like intellectuals, talking about "ideas" while they are really talking about people (the Ideas, Things, People, hierarchy). The "logic" ascribed to us "liberals" defies the laws of sense, physics and anything else you can think of. The fatal flaw in this argument is that if it were true we would all need somebody to remind us to breathe. According to him "the liberals" want the US to lose the war in Iraq. Now DU is a fairly lefty sort of place, but I've never seen anybody here suggest that. Nobody is gloating when our troops are killed. Anyway he was going on in a voice loud enough for people around him to hear what sounded like quotations from Chairman Rush, except when he was trying to chisel the Waiter to get him something at no cost. His girlfriend did not seem to engage so it was a monologue.

Due to the layout of the restaurant I was sitting almost next to his girlfriend (I estimated both of them to be in their late 30's early 40's) I told my Wife "That guy's an idiot!" in a voice just loud enough that I am sure his girlfriend heard it.

I don't know how their date ended, but we went home for desert and watched "Road to Rio".

1. If that would have
happened here in NYC, I strongly suspect the table of Liberals next to him would have openly challenged him, guffawed at his stupidity and, with the rest of the restaurant booing and hissing, would have chased the two of them from the premises. LOL Don't believe me? Trust me, it's happened!

2. RIGHT! Remember what happened to Condi at the theater?
I was thinking I would have loved to have been in a position to have picked up the asshole's check - on the sly, of course - and then make sure that when he asked for his check, the waiter told him very loudly that "THE LIBERAL AT THE NEXT TABLE PICKED UP YOUR TAB"!!!

4. Either that or bought the date/wife a large drink
I'm sure she probably needed one.

5. Remember this?
Freeman's Restaurant, Lower Eat Side, the night of Nov. 16 2004, the B* twins along with 2
secret service men tried to have dinner. They were told by the
maitre 'd that they were full and would be for the next 4 years. Upon
hearing the entire restaurant cheered and did a round of shots.

I don't know how true it is, but it was all over the internet at the time.

3. guess that's why
My husband always cautions me to lower my voice when talking about politics in a public place.

Pushing views like that off on everyone within hearing distance at a place where people go for enjoyment is just plain rude.
