Okay, so yesterday, I came back from this Church camp (it was like you went with your church as a whole), and, until then, I was completely turned off to the Christian faith (my mom made me go). But, the camp was really fun, especially the mission site, which was for me, the YWCA (got to work with kids and all) and let me just say, Jerry Fallwell and that bunch should be ashamed. These people (the staff) at this camp were, IMHO, personifying what the Christian faith was all about, love, tolerance, equality in the eyes of God. Here's an example:
At one of our worship services (it was outside, and I hate being outside, sitting in the grass like I was, so I really wasn't planning on listening very much to the sermon or whatever) the sermon was about labeling and all (like the Bible study of the day or whatever was) and I was shocked that this guy admitted that Christians could be unaccepting of people and all. Usually what I hear is the exact opposite, even though (above) is true. I don't know why but that was like this huge awakening for me. And, IMHO, the whole camp had a very subtle, somewhat liberal theme to it (at least thats what I thought). Comment with your thoughts and all. I hope y'all can understand what I'm trying to say...sometimes I feel my words don't come out right, especially on the internet (haha that sounded dumb)
