3. another song just as relevant.... WAR PIGS... Black Sabbath
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 10:57 PM by diamondsndust
Generals gathered in their masses,
just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot destruction,
sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
as the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
poisoning their brainwashed minds.
Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away.
They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah.

Time will tell on their power minds,
making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
wait till their judgement day comes, yeah.

Now in darkness world stops turning,
ashes where the bodies burning.
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgement, God is calling,
on their knees the war pigs crawling.
Begging mercies for their sins,
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings.
Oh lord, yeah!
--Black Sabbath, War Pigs

6. Add it to the playlist for the folks of today to hear
The more the merrier. With American Idol, obviously people are listening to music :)

5. Lives In The Balance
by Jackson Browne, 1986
He was refering to our involvement in central America
at the time but it holds just as true today

"Ive been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that youve seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And theres a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs
On the radio talk shows and the t.v.
You hear one thing again and again
How the u.s.a. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends--
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally cant take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone
There are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire"

It was so obvious what the run-up to Iraq was all about
and yet it couldn't be stopped.

10. Get it voted up on YouTube
that should do the trick and then I think airplay will follow. Thanks for that.

Henley's Last Resort, from Hotel California, isn't on YouTube but that is regarded as being one of the best protest songs ever with regard to the environment.
