2. I hope Moyers bites Tom's forking head off
I'm not even really into chainsaw movies, but I would pay good money to watch Moyers unzip Friedman's shrunken noggin with a baseball bat.

It'll be a virtual decapitation, since Moyers is a class act, but I'll watch it anyway.

:-)

9. Rose's Return was Great
I watched the first half of the program last night which was Charlie Rose's return after heart surgery, the first time Rose has been public at all, I think. It was a discussion of the original threat of heart disease--Rose has a history with it, which I didn't even know--everything getting worse, shortness of breath, through the diagnosis and surgery, the aftermath, recovery, etc., to coming back on the show, and discussing also what kinds of changes Rose experienced because of the real prospect of mortality, as opposed to how Bill Moyers dealt with things, etc. It was a really great, sensitive, intelligent, and "adult"--(especially after all this Ann Coulter/Rove/etc. shit)--talk about these things, between Charlie Rose, Bill Moyers, and Rose producer Yvette Vega, who is also long-time companions with Rose. I really liked all three of these people, I liked the way they handled the whole topic, and it was a huge relief to see and hear Charlie Rose seeming to be just totally healthy again, especially after I worried about how bad it all was. The surgery apparently went really well, and a defective valve problem solved by a replacement. It was also fun to hear Bill Moyers talking so casually and conversationally, and to hear about the long background between Moyers and Rose. This was a very satisfying conversation to listen to for many reasons--because it was nice to hear a great conversation between likable, intelligent adults on TV at all, and most important, because it was a real relief to know that Charlie Rose really seems to have recovered, and is back.
