1. I don't know about a passport but he never left the USA before being...

7. He insulted the Queen on a WH visit when Papa Bush was Prez. He asked her
her is there were any black sheep in her family. Mama Bush quickly changed the subject.

9. Does anyone else find this as odd as I do?
Here was a man born to wealth and though he certainly had every opportunity to travel, he was/is apparently and totally incurious of the world around him. I can't even imagine being in his position and not wanting to experience other countries and cultures.

I think he had just finished college then. (He apparently whines about how he missed hamburgers when he was there ... I bought a used copy of "his" book, or rather the one Karen Hughes ghostwrote for him, because a Chinese colleague of mine could not believe that such a self-centered person would ever become a US president.)
