Scooter News .....
Initial reports indicate that Mr. Fitzgerald does not expect the White House to contest the call to put our heroic vice president on the witness stand.

Any information or ideas about Sealed v. Sealed? Could it be that that indictment was filed at this time for scheduling purposes--either the judge's, the Special Prosecutor's or someone involved in the case? I am thinking if it is the latter, that someone could testify without the taint of knowingly being publicly indicted, and definitely, the Govt. is in a better position vis-a-vis a jury if there are no deals affecting a witness. Would Judge Walton handle Sealed v. Sealed, or would it necessarily go to another judge?

18. Good questions.
I think that it is unlikely that Judge Reggie Walton would get a Rove case. They will not be tried together, and it could be difficult to balance everyone's rights. Better if another judge is assigned.

Regarding the "sealed v sealed" .... I have been thinking about making a statement about the latest "controversy" (for some, anyhow) over the new TO article. I'll say this: when I posted the old Waterman Paper a couple years ago, some people liked it, and some people gave me shit. And about a year ago, when I was documenting some facts about the Niger yellow cake lies, some people liked it, and some people gave me shit, saying Wilson was not truthful, and adding other shit on top of that.

Likewise, some of what I've read on DU that attacks Jason L, Will P, and Truthout has a familiar ring. I would suggest to people who wonder about Rove and a possible indictment that there it is possible TO is 100% right, as it is possible TO is 100% wrong. And it is perhaps most likely that their reports are somewhere in between.

There is no need for DUers to try to determine exactly what has happened between Rove and Mr. Fitzgerald, because it is simply impossible to know for sure. But keep two things in mind: Wilson uses Will Pitt as a source for his book "The Politics of Truth," and Team Libby site Jason Leopold and Truthout as their enemy in a court filing.

21. Thanks, I Had Seen That
What I was referring to is the matter of evidence/documents Fitzgerald has in regards to Rove that Team Libby wants. As long as it is an ongoing investigation FitzG. doesn't have to disclose to the defense. Judge Walton was supposedly going to ask FitzG. was the status on that was. It would be an indicator.

29. Sorry That I Wasn't More Help
With today's dismissal, we'll have to dig even further, I fear. To me, the biggest variable is how long it will take Fitz to charge Cheney. I sure hope that it's soon but know that ole D. will pull out all the stops. Fitz had better start looking both ways before crossing the street!

14. I can certainly understand
why people would think it is unlikely that Dick Cheney would ever sit upon the hot seat under oath. In my opinion -- which I recognize is of no more value than anyone else's -- is that if by some small chance Scooter Dogg doesn't plead guilty in early December, that VP Cheney will in fact testify. As I understand it, this would be done behind closed doors, and the general public would not have access to his testimony.

I've been so bummed out all day by the "Sealed vs. Sealed" flap. This news about Cheney possibly being forced to testify was a needed lift.

person who tried to serve Cheney with a subpoena
over the Energy Task Force meeting minutes
off the White House grounds?

That was maybe four (?) years ago or so.

Somehow this story does not raise
my hope of witnessing justice on any level, on that memory alone.

Not to be a nay-sayer or anything, it's just
that at this point, I can't even begin to
fathom anything close to this administration
observing the law or being held accountable
for their myriad of lawless activities.

I don't know what to make of it, infighting?

Would a judge allow the U.S. to appear as sealed?
