1. "It doesn't happen here ... at least not yet."
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 07:19 PM by TahitiNut
(That's my idiomatic translation.)

"aber jetzt" literally translates to "however now" or "but now" ... but it's idiomatic.

18. yes
if the meaning were "not yet," it would have been "noch nicht." the "aber" is used in a contrastive sense.

22. maybe
we should look into getting them reprinted here so we can put them everywhere. of course we'd probably want to change the caption to something more like "this is happening here and it is happening right now."

25. notice the way the posters were made
they are taken exactly at the same place and angle than where the actors played the role. It's so well done that sometimes it lokks like you are looking through an empty frame. So If you want to do the same in the US you have to find an agency that can recreate the trick locally (or hire the Swiss agency). The idea is to present the situation as if you had it "live" in FRONT OF YOU.

I can imagine that using that trick at a known view as Mt Rushmore, Statue of Liberty etc... would make the Republican party go ballistic....

You are correct about the ads though. It would really freak me out to see those ads "lve" too.
