Why aren't Dems taking up Air America on invitations?
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 01:05 AM by ariellyn
Rachel Maddow said on her show Monday morning while interviewing the vice chair of the DNC, Susie Turnbull, that it is extremely tough to get Democrats to come on Air America for interviews. Why is that? This changes my thinking completely about Democrats. I was sympathetic because I felt that they were silent only because they have been censored by the MSM. But when I hear that they are turning down invites to speak out (except for Dean) well...I can only conclude that they are indeed spineless jellyfish in the same pond as the scum Republicans.

1. You mean she interviewed Dean Monday?
I think calling them spineless jellyfish is overboard.

2. No she didn't interview Dean, she interviewed the head of the DNC.
I really don't think my description is overboard.

4. Uh, Dean IS the head of the DNC. What are you trying to convey?

6. Either she interviewed Dean or she didn't.
Dean is the head of the DNC.

If she interviewed the head of the DNC, she interviewed Dean.

Please don't waste our time with silliness.

17. It took awhile to get to where that point, didn't it?
I truly thought she was speaking in tongues.

3. How many Democrats are actually progressive???
How many Dems would recognise the New Deal? How many are progressive at all?
How many Dems are Lieberman Democrats? How many are light Democrats, like Hillary?
That's a shame Rachel can't get more Dems on her show. She should invite Greens and other independants then.

9. Even Ed Schultz was complaining
that the Dem's are hard to get on his shows. It seems to be getting better for him. He has quite a few on now, but during the campaign you barely heard anyone.
AAR is there and willing to let them have their say. They should use the opportunity to get their voices heard.

10. Isn't her show
on at some crazy time like 6am? I wouldn't be on a talk show hosted by God if I had to be there or on the phone at 6am.

12. So You Couldn't Be Bothered to Help Make a Change Before Your Wakey Wakey?
Very good thinking.

Maybe you should change your nick to Ferris Bueller or something.

I'd be awake and on the phone at three in the fucking morning if I thought it would help.

Whatever It Takes.

Apparently, that ISN'T your motto. Too bad.

11. The DC Dems do not interact with blogs or AirAmerica with just a few
exceptions. Most Congresscritters are focused on MSM and the DNC/DLC party line. Blogs/AirAmerica/Progressives is just a rowdy crowd to be ignored unless they want our money or vote.

16. Sadly, AAR isn't MSM
I hate it when I see Dems on Faux Propaganda chanel.

Also, how many Dems are real, progressive Dems versus corporatists? (Rhetorical question)

18. I've heard quite a few Dems on Ed Schultz's show
Same with Stephanie Miller's show. But they aren't officially connected to AAR, even though their shows air on stations that also carry AAR shows. Just yesterday, I hear Sen. Robert Byrd on Ed Schultz's show, and a few days earlier, I heard Harry Reid. I've heard John Kerry in the last couple of months on Schultz, Miller and Al Franken.

19. They're afraid of saying something that will embarrass them
Let's say a Prominent Democrat is on a liberal talk show. Things are going really well. Then the host asks him or her an awkward question, oh like, "What is the Democrats plan for getting us out of Iraq".

PD knows damn well that there is no plan. He or she tries to utter some platitude about working to find a solution. The host persists--his listeners are people who care about this issue. PD--knowing that the listeners are not going to swallow any more bullshit--decides to speak his/her own mind on what Democrats should do about the war.

Next day the headlines reads "Prominent Democrat says Democrats want staged troop withdrawal" or "Prominent Democrat says we are losing the war." Other Democrats--those who staked their careers on supporting the war--are outraged and fire back at PD. "Prominent Democrat does not speak for me"

The story now becomes disunity in the Democratic party.

The right wing scream machine goes into action. "Prominent Democrat appears on far left talk show". Carefully edited clips are run of the host talking to some wackjob tinfoil hat caller who says Israel bombed the World Trade Center. Now its "Prominent Democrats appears on Anti-Semitic far left talk show."

Republicans can talk to their base without consequences. Cheney can unload his cares to Rush Limbaugh and Pat Roberson. Democrats, at least some of them, are ashamed to be seen with their supporters and those that aren't know that they will be slammed mercilessly by those who in their own party who believe that the only way to win is to avoid anything that might possibly scare the soccer moms.

This is no way to run a political party.

20. I want a Progressive with a spine!!!
Enough with the lily-livered cowering, pandering do-gooders! They need to convince the freepers that Bush and co have declared class warfare on the rest of us and it's only a matter of time before we are all in Guantanamo. The less the middle class does, the better.
Vote out the compromisers! I have had it with them and I won't support them.
