As many know, a public "Voice of the Arts" station took over 1690 coming from 1190.

I switched on a radio tuned to 1690 and there was Al. Yesterday they were playing classical music.

It seems that they are still playing some AAR shows.

Still, I hope that AAR finds another station in our talk radio heavy market.

1. Al Franken is the only AAR radio show they are broadcasting.

:(
I spoke with the station manager and he told me to get XM because it was XM's fault that 1690 took AAR off the air. He said they couldn't make money because of XM.

See the GA forum for more on my conversation with Mr. Davis. I was polite, but he seemed annoyed (like he'd gotten a LOT of phone calls and e-mails RE: AAR and Air Atlanta.)

edit: I have no idea how the radio business works and if Davis' XM story is true or if he was just making something up to get me off the phone.

2. Thanks.
Once again, I wish they hadn't made that exclusive deal with XM.

I wonder how long that contract is.

Note: I meant to type 1690 and not 1160 in my post which is linked above.

5. If you speak again
please tell him that many of us were forced to get XM because he has such a crappy station most of us here in the north Atlanta suburbs can't get it in most of the time. 1690 is very weak, so it's no loss to a good portion of Atlanta if they drop AAR.

XM is worth every penny.

4. Here's the link to their website:

They are streaming already. This is a great station. Sorry AA got bumped though. The same guy owns both now. He's planning "business talk" at the other one, 1160. But maybe he can be convinced that it would be good business to have AA talk instead.

Apparently, due to the new signal strength, they can be on the air longer and needed a bit more programming, so they added Franken, but that's all.

Here's a short story about the deal from last week:
