today.

All I can say is:

W O W ! ! !

On EDIT: For those of you getting freaked about this post, I never condemned it. Just lots of speculation today and the range within the same general subject was astonishing, at least to me. I have no idea who's right, who's wrong or any of it. Just surprised.

1. Stop in the 9/11 forum sometime...
conspiracy theories definitely have a home here.

And while I'm a terribly skeptical sort, I don't think there's anything wrong with idle Internet speculation -- at least unless such speculation is presented as fact.

2. Here are fourteen common features of conspiracy theories.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theory#Features

And wouldn't you know, despite the political neutrality of this list, parts of it have been denounced by some people here.

18. On that note
This seemed appropriate here. Someone with way too much time on their hands took the time to do a study titled On the Effectiveness of Aluminum Foil Helmets: An Empirical Study. We should put this into a board FAQ or something ;)

11. Just the range.
In the first three threads I read, I saw:

... Truthout was set up.
... Rove is throwing smoke bombs to cover RFK Jr.'s election revelations.
... Fitz must have been threatened.

I do recognize that many conspiracy theories end up being proven, and everyone certainly has the right to speak. I just don't think I've seen as much, with as many variations, as this morning.

No flow charts. Keep everything in your head. In code, in your head. Just to be sure.

10. Do not make the mistake of underestimating Karl Rove. The man
LIVES to emulate his heroes Lee Atwater and Tricky Dick Nixon and he likes to think of himself as a scheming bastard sort of a cross between Goebels and Rasputin, always manipulating those around him. That means that he DOES create these really wild schemes, like planting listening devises in his own office and then blaming the rival candiate, crap like that.

If it is about Karl Rove and it fits his modus operandus (he likes to repeat himself) it is probably not just a theory.

13. What a dirty word... Conspiracy.
By the way...

What was Abramhoff charged with?

ding! Yup. Conspiracy.

OK, What was Noe charged with?

ding! Yup. Conspiracy.

OK, What was Gus Boulis charged with?

ding! Yup. Conspiracy.

OK, What was John Colyandro charged with?

ding! Yup. Conspiracy.

Duke Cunningham? Tom Delay? Chuck McGee?

ding! ding! ding!

If a conspiracy is hatched in America and there is no one there to theorize about it does it make an impact?

considering Rove's political history, I think it's a good possibility Leopold was set up.

22. We would not have any of this if
people would just tell the freaking truth.. Is that too much to ask from our leaders, and our news? Even half the time would be nice, so we would only have half of the conspiracy theories...

I don't believe anything that comes out of this government anymore. I am supplied for a year with tin-foil. I keep asking questions about everything. :tinfoilhat:

23. The Fitz thing was unknown.. just speculation. So too with how voter
suppression happened. Those are unknowns. Some people jump..some don't. But the issues behind them have questions. So to wonder.. speculate..guess.. is normal. And we don't know the final answer on either of these things. So they are still open.

Conspiracy theories denying Zarchawi dead or denying Canadian police arrested 17 true al Qaeda cell members.. that is conspiracy theory-ish.

My guess is freepers. So that Rush Limbagh can then talk about the DU that way.

24. No one has the answers
But what we do have is a better idea of what is going on and how we arrived here . If not for the people questioning the stories being told where would we be .
One person sparks the idea that things don't add up and then from there some with the connections and resources gets interested and digs for the truth . Everyone speculates but this is not necessarily a bad thing , it opens the topic for discussion .

I don't know anyone with a brain who will sit there and do absolutely nothing if things don't add up .

All the lies flying around sets the stage for speculation , it's conspiracy theory , it's investigation of lies .
