appropriation bill right now.

I guess they will vote on that before they come back to the Defense Bill, so I imagine it will be later this week.

The amendment was filed yesterday though.

7. I am not very confident and wonder if it will come to a vote.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada and other senior Democrats were not quick to embrace Sen. John Kerry's proposal to withdraw U.S. combat troops from Iraq by year's end. Rather, several Senate Democrats said their caucus was discussing Iraq proposals that could get wide Democratic support.

Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, said: ``I think just a naked date, without it being attached to what our plan as to how you would succeed in leaving something better, would not be the most appropriate way to go.''

9. Iraqi politicians have proved they only react to DATES CERTAIN. Last Sept.
Kerry went to Iraq and spoke to the rank and file members of Parliament - they all said that America needs to set a timetable for withdrawal.

Kerry is not making any of his withdrawal plans in a vacuum. Gary Hart and Bob Kerrey support it, and they are known for their national security creds.

10. In this case, the focus needs to be on Reid, Schumer, and Levin.
They will propose a withdrawal date, but at the end of 2007.

13. They probably wouldn't have even put that together if Kerry hadn't been
pushing them with his proposal.

11. Why is Biden still spreading misinformation?
Kerry's plan is a "naked date"? If he read the amendment of the short op-ed, that is likely not above Biden's reading level, he would see that it calls for serious diplomacy (as Kerry described today in his speech).

What it sounds like is that Biden sees his winning image for the Presidential race is as the foreign policy expert. Though he may be the ranking member due to senority, Kerry far out-classes him. I think he feels that he needs to get Kerry out, or he has no chance.

12. Well, then let's hear the debate..... Neither Biden or Clinton really want
to face that gauntlet.
