BARTOW, Fla. -- A former Department of Homeland Security press aide accused of sexually preying on a detective posing online as a teenage girl told police he wasn't attracted to children, but had explicit conversations as a "kind of a power trip," documents show.
Prosecutors released more than 300 pages of court records in the case against Brian J. Doyle, 56, who is accused of trying to solicit sex with the "child" and sending pornographic videos to her. He resigned from his job after his arrest and has pleaded not guilty.
The newly released documents include transcripts of alleged online chats and a few telephone calls between Doyle and Polk County sheriff's detectives posing as the fictitious girl named "Ashlynne."
The material also includes a transcript of an interview with detectives after his arrest, in which Doyle told investigators the discussions were "fantasy" for him, and he denied being sexually attracted to children or that he ever intended to meet with the girl.
