We Can Do This!

I'm not even a huge Star Wars freak (I'm actually a trekkie), but I thought of this analogy a few hours ago:

This is a fight against the evil Empire (* and co.), and the Rebel Alliance (us). And sometimes, it seems as though the obstacles in front of us are insurmountable. Just remember that as big and well-armed and -armored the Death Star was, that mighty space station fell to attack vessels only a fraction of its size because of one design flaw.

Good always prevails in the end, eventually. It may not happen tomorrow. Or even next week. Or maybe not even in a month or so. I believe, however, that we will prevail - * will be shown for the jackass that he is, the Republican party (national Repubs, not average joe Repubs) will be shown for the corrupt liars that they are, and a Democrat will occupy the White House. We just have to be patient - to allow time for the pendulum to swing back in our direction. It always does.

The Rebel Alliance didn't even win the war after that big victory against the Death Star. It took them a few more years - as well as a major defeat on the planet Hoth (Empire Strikes Back) - before they were able to fully defeat the Empire. Like them, we've got to be patient, optimistic, positive, and relentless.

We know that * is vulnerable because of his recent poll numbers. We also know, from the comments about mAnn Coulter and other RW nuts here on DU, that RW commentators are vulnerable too, because their dirty debate tactics are being revealed. We're beginning to not allow them to pull their usual tricks because we can recognize and "block" them. It's a big battle, but it's far from impossible. We can do this, DUers. Don't let the evil Empire win!

I fucking hate Ewoks.

You know, their weakness is the need to pull dirty tricks. We could give them a situation to pull dirty tricks in, but somehow gather enough proof to show the American people they are corrupt jerks. What do y'all say?

These people are the Evil Empire of the Federal Government.

Great idea. Catch them in the act. That would look very good for us - and prove what we've been saying about Rove and company all along.

All of the evidence so far is circumstantial, if we could pull a sting op on the Pukes, and film it, then the impact would be greater.

The American people are visual. Everything so far can't be seen because if happens behind closed doors. We need to show a video, that will have the impact needed, unlike most of the things they have been caught in the act of doing for these past years.

I love Star Wars. Grr...and to think that Reagan used those movies for RW gain ("Star Wars" missle program or whatever..hey I wasn't alive in the 80s-give me a break :D )...they just assumed that a blonde haired, blue eyed "freedom fighter" was an obvious RWer. Bleh, us on the left are the real freedom fighters.

Exactly. Torture, wiretapping, wars fought on bad premises and the Patriot Act is not what America should be about.
