Need some help! Who is Tom Harris?
I have a right-wing friend...We go at it pretty good. Usually, what I find here is good enough to keep him off balance.

Today, however, he went after Al Gore and the movie. He sent an editorial written by Tom Harris. I couldn't get a line on this guy on Google. So I wonder if any of the science people here, have heard of Harris. I don't want to respond to my friend until I get some information.

"Gore's warnings of climate catastrophe"

"The Inconvenient Truth" is indeed inconvenient to alarmists
By Tom Harris
Monday, June 12, 2006
"Scientists have an independent obligation to respect and present the truth as they see it," Al Gore sensibly asserts in his film "An Inconvenient Truth", showing at Cumberland 4 Cinemas in Toronto since Jun 2. With that outlook in mind, what do world climate experts actually think about the science of his movie?"

I can't find a link for the article, but I assume it will be available in a day or two. What does anyone here know about "Tom Harris."

1. Here you go.
He writes for the National Post, a Canadian newspaper. Don't know much about it; I live in Texas.

Article's available here:

Google is your friend. Adding "Canada" (since it quotes what must be a local movie theatre ... in Toronto) pared down the results to a manageable 8.9 million, but the relevant link was on the first page. :-)

2. Start here:

Sounds like a loser to me.

"Tom Harris has Bachelor and Master's degrees in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and worked for 15 years as an aerospace propulsion and aerodynamics engineer for various Canadian organizations. Following this, he spent four years working as a full-time professional speaker and freelance writer in space exploration, presenting to audiences of all ages and backgrounds ranging from aerospace professionals and science teacher associations to groups of young children. In 1994, Tom moved back into engineering and now works as an automation systems specialist. He continues to speak and write about space exploration on a part-time basis."

5. I'm afraid I can't answer that because that's what he seems like to me.
I understand that his articles are often written with another man named Tim Patterson who is a geology professor.
