http://thinkprogress.org/2006/06/14/boehner-memo/On Thursday, the House of Representatives will hold a debate on the Iraq war. Media reports say Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) “hopes to match the serious, dignified tone of deliberation that preceded the Gulf war, in 1991.”

Big Question: 9-11-24-7-365, are you ready for it?
Bigger Question: Are the Democrats ready for it?
bush and GOPers will be beating this drum round the clock. Right now they are emboldened by Zarqawi's demise and a carefully scripted 'bush* surprise' visit to Iraq.
Democrats have been sort of sitting back waiting for the GOPers to implode, but the political theater is not one where you can do that for long. Things happen quickly, public opinion changes as memory fades.
Can anyone reasonably deny the horrors of September 11? Can anyone deny "supporting the troops"? It's hard to do take a stance against bush*'s policies and still acknowledge September 11 and support the troops.
We know the Boehner memo is a political stunt designed to set the stage for the 9-11 theme of mid-term campaigns. Get Democrats on the record and then attack them when they speak out against bush*/GOPer handling of the War on Terror.
So what can Democrats do? Get off their butts for one thing, the other is to get a united message.
How should the Democrats respond to the round the clock terror terror terror 9-11 9-11 9-11?
1. Highlight the incompetence of bush*'s misadministration and the servial compliance of the rubber-stamping Republican Congress. How many of the 9-11 commission recommendations have actually been implimented? How can we be safer if we haven't taken steps to make us safer?
2. Ask why we have our troops dying in Iraq for democracy when our our "freedoms" are under attack by the bush* administration and rubber-stamping republicans. (i.e NSA spying)
3. When (not if) a terror alert is issued - ask are we really safe - or are terror alerts part of the republican campaign strategy?
4. Present a UNIFIED plan for implimenting the 9-11 commission recommendations.
The Democrats can not afford to wait for Republicans to implode. American can't wait for it either. just my 2-cents
