New Super Highway??
http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=15497

On Huffington Post

"Bush Administration Quietly Plans NAFTA Super Highway

by Jerome R. Corsi
Posted Jun 12, 2006

Quietly but systematically, the Bush Administration is advancing the plan to build a huge NAFTA Super Highway, four football-fields-wide, through the heart of the U.S. along Interstate 35, from the Mexican border at Laredo, Tex., to the Canadian border north of Duluth, Minn."

<snip>

This is freakier than the highway!

<snip>

"A good reason Bush does not want to secure the border with Mexico may be that the administration is trying to create express lanes for Mexican trucks to bring containers with cheap Far East goods into the heart of the U.S., all without the involvement of any U.S. union workers on the docks or in the trucks."

This is from an Ann Coulter lovin' site!!

Something that will tear through the heartland of this once-beautiful country and serve as a fitting metaphor for America's oversized greed and ego.

11. You have to buy it.
That's what I thought, too. So I did some Googling -- it is true.

Actually, from my reading, this looks like a prime pet project of Tom DeLay.

It makes sense from a Bushite point of view ... distract the public with this illegal immigration issue focused on the border. Meanwhile set up a LEGAL grand entrance way for the export of manufacturing jobs, transportation jobs, and import millions of "guest workers" ... this is what is actually going on I think.

This Super Corridor, which is scheduled to start happening next year, is the final brick in the wall to a total takeover of the U.S. economy by the mega-transnational corporations.

Take a look at these sites:

12. Thanks for the info.
I see two problems with their plan:

1) It looks like political suicide. The utter hypocrisy is appalling.

2) The only way they'll have enough time to actually implement the thing is if they manage to stay in power past the '08 election.

14. No, No, Thank You.
I thought later that my subject title was a bit impertinent ... thanks for overlooking that ...

Well, all these big corporate plans look like political suicide when you get into the details (like NAFTA). But they are trying very hard not to play in the electoral political field. They couch it all in terms of "free trade" and "diversity" and "cultural exchange" so as to sound as benign as possible.

And, the real sad thing is that I am not so sure that these transnational types are counting on just the radical Republicans -- there are a lot of "free trade" Democrats, too.

23. Very true.
I'm certain that they're counting on a lot of support from our side of the aisle. And more than likely, they'll get it. People like Joe "MBNA" Biden will hop right on the bandwagon.

By the way, I particularly liked the "cultural exchange" term. Politicians love to assign non-threatening terms to issues like this, and that one is perfect.

16. 6 car lanes, 4 truck lanes, RR tracks, oil/gas pipelines, utility lines...
and broadband transmission cables. An initial cost of $175 BILLION dollars (and we all know the initial estimates are always too low).

Texans are already losing their land through eminent domain, small towns and businesses fear losing business and evironmentalists are extremely concerned about the pollution this will create. Texans from both political parties are PISSED about this bs.

21. Even the Republicans are against it
The Texas Republican Party platform has already rejected this proposal. But Texas' Corporatist Republican governor doesn't care. His rich Corporate donors want the superhighway, and that's all that really matters.

18. Pro illegal Du'ers
should be jumping for joy and throwing a party over this plan.

There will be no more fit young men and womwen dying in the desert to try to send money back to their families. Now entire armies of families will be coming up in comfort once the RFID pass system is in place, they won't even be stopped at the phony border, they'll just be scanned and tolled by the king of Spain.

So much for those who gave their blood and sweat to achieve union gains...progress is much more important, eh?

20. The Pro Illegal DUers will try to lock the post
They've already gotten several posts on this subject locked. That's their usual tactic when an inconvenient truth gets posted that doesn't favor illegal immigration. They'll whine about the source of the article being "conservative" or "racist." They'll claim that the author simply made this up. When all else fails, they'll start calling everyone who acknowledges the existence of this superhighway a "racist," "xenophobe," "bigot," "white nationalist," or a "white supremacist." They'll claim the Southern Poverty Law Center has declared that site a "racist" site.

Some people simply can't handle the truth. And they'll stop at nothing to suppress it.
