Good summary of the "good news" for Bush.
The CarperBagger Report does a good job of laying out the "positive" events of the past few weeks; in case you haven't already seen it.

* Zarqawi — There's no doubt that killing a top terrorist in Iraq is a positive development, but this was a victory for the country, not the Republicans. Besides, Bush had three chances to take Zarqawi out before the war began, and decided not to.

* Plame investigation — The White House faced a three-year criminal investigation that led to a top presidential aide getting indicted, the first time that's happened in 130 years. Only a Republican could look at this and consider it good news.

* Iraq — One well-executed, substance-free photo-op does not a policy make. The civil war continues.

* Busby — The Republicans narrowly won a House seat in a very conservative district they expected to win easily, and had to spend $5 million to eke out a victory where the GOP enjoys a huge advantage. Why they'd find this encouraging is beyond me.

Now, compare what they write to what's happening in the "real" world.

High Gas Prices - Oil prices are still around $70 a barrel. http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/15/markets/oil.reut/index.htm

Stock Market - http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/investing/bal-bz.wallst15jun15,0,3546196.story?coll=bal-business-headlines

Economy is Slowing Down - May industrial production falls 0.1 percent, expectations were for an increase of 0.2 percent.

Inflation - http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/14/pf/saving/willis_tips/index.htm

2500 dead American Soldiers - http://today.reuters.com/news/NewsArticle.aspx?type=topNews&storyID=2006-06-15T123646Z_01_WAT005833_RTRUKOC_0_US-IRAQ-USA-TOLL.xml

Global Warming - Hurricane season has already started with Alberto.

Just wait til next week when the media is wondering why there is no big bounce for Bush.
