Dick Cheney to campaign for rabidly anti-gay candidate
If you have ever heard Michele Bachmann speak, she is a frothing-at-the-mouth gay hater; Coulteresque in the depths of her vitriol. I despise the way Mary Cheney has whored herself for the Republican party, but my God, after being raised by a father like this, how could she be anything but fucked up? I can't help but feel a little bit sorry for her.

Here's the link, but there's not much more info there:

2. I understand where you're coming from.
She's an adult, and responsible for her actions. I simply can't help but wonder if she might have turned out differently had she been raised and nurtured by actual human beings.

Michele Bachmann (MN GOP Senator) SCREAMS for help at constituent meeting

Remember Michele Bachmann? She was the subject of a long thread that made the front page (and Top Ten Conservative Idiots) when she literally hid behind the bushes to watch an anti-hate amendment rally. You'd think she would try to avoid drawing this kind attention to herself. But then, if there's one thing Bachmann seems to be utterly incapable of doing, it's think.

Just days after cowering in the bushes to, apparently, avoid being attacked by gays, Bachmann was involved in this bizarre incident:
After the meeting, some attempted to speak further with
Bachmann and Vandeveer to emphasize the hurtful
consequences of the narrow political policies. Even
among the few conservatives in attendance, it was
commented that the Defense of Marriage Act was a
political waste of time perpetrated by Republicans
to divert attention from more pressing issues. One
retired farmer remarked, "I'm straight, but God made
gays and I don't have any problem with them. The Defense
of Marriage thing is a waste of time. They have more
important business at the legislature."

Senator Bachmann retired to the restroom and residents began
moving toward the exit. Less than a moment later, piercing
screams were heard from the ladies' washroom. "Help!!!!
HEEEELLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!" With everyone's attention riveted
on the door, Senator Bachmann emerged in a crouching run,
crying, "I was being held against my will!" Two women
were seen standing behind her, one tall and elderly,
the other young and petite, both unassuming and bewildered.

The women reported afterward they had followed the senator
into the restroom to continue to question her about
education. One had her hand on the door handle, ready to
open it, which she immediately did when Senator Bachmann
became frightened and began screaming.

Mused one bystander, "I'm guessing our Senator won't be
returning to Scandia any time soon."
Come on, Minnesota. Is this really the best we can do?

And for those who missed it when I commented in Bachmann's last thread, she certainly does seem to think the "homosexual community" is out to get her. She has called children the "prize" of the homosexual community ("they are specifically targetting our children"). She also believes that allowing gay marriage will "take away the civil right of little children to be protected in their innocence."

What a nut.

7. Wonder if the candidate will run away screaming?
Especially if Mary comes close?

8. Mary Cheney has economic immunity
Or so I'm guessing she thinks. That is, all this dreary oppression of gay people will never affect her, because she has a staggering amount of wealth to insulate her from the more hurtful discrimination. She identifies with the tribe of the overrich rather than the tribe of the sexual minority, and as such, is safe from any real discrimination.

Yes, it bothers her a teeny, tiny bit when the name-calling starts, and she probably would rather wish the whole issue would just go away (that is, when it intrudes into her cocoon). But real hardship? Real discrimination? A real threat to her existence? None of that comes anywhere near the privileged Ms. Cheney.

So her dad can raise money and campaign for an out-and-out nutjob like Michele Bachmann, because Mary Cheney knows that Michele Bachmann is only going to affect economically disadvantaged persons, and Mary Cheney doesn't identify with that tribe.

I certainly don't wish Ms. Cheney any harm, but I hope she's not too shocked when the day comes to show her that her silence didn't save her.

9. Monsters begin somewhere.
I am not in the habit of sympathizing with the moral bottom.

But I feel somewhat sorry for her, too; she is her old man's daughter, and all the warp and weirdness that implies.
