Bush Military History Project #11
Journal entry #11
This is being written as a journal in democraticunderground.com and crossposted on Dailykos, Truthout and Myleftwing.
I urge readers of this series to obtain a copy of Unfit Commander by Glenn Smith, the only source of Bush’s military papers in chronological order. Where internet references are not easily available I will give page numbers of this book for reference.
I also urge readers to become familiar with the report by Lt Col Gerald Lechliter, published in the NY Times, available at: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/opin...
Or Google: NY Times Gerald Lechliter. I will be referring to both of these sources in this study.
I can be reached at concernedexlrrp@hotmail.com

A note before I start: I write this in Word and C&P it into the diaries. At this point all paragraph indentations, italics, page breaks etc get lost. Sometimes the links don’t work after the transfer—I check them all out when I write this. When I correct this manually at each separate place I post this diary (tedious) the indentations still don’t happen. I’m sorry this makes it difficult to read but I hope the content makes it worthwhile. If anyone knows how to remedy this or if a link doesn’t work, please let me know-Thanks

I hope by now I have established for my Constant Readers the fact that there are considerable falsifications in Bush’s records, done by his superiors to conceal, or “sugarcoat,” Bush’s failure—refusal—to take his physical. Their scheme was to show that he had left the 111th (and 147th) in Ellington AFB before they were required to discipline him. Part of this was having him “ghost,” a Vietnam era word meaning to “goldbrick,” to be on the rolls as a pilot but not actually there. To do so, they had to falsify many documents and therefore create many contradictions

They falsely kept him listed as a pilot, AFSC:1125D, F102 pilot through his discharge: over 14 months after he was suspended and 18 months after his last flight. Can you spot the other falsifications/ irregularities on this discharge? I’ve found 10 so far. Like: He didn’t SIGN it? And: Qualifications: NONE ? (Their capitals, not my emphasis!) We’ll be discussing this kiss of death discharge in the future.

These contradictions and falsehoods are easy to spot when the papers are put in the proper order, like the phony exit date of May 15th. That’s why the Bush Administration scrambled them up when they released them in their “document dump” of Feb ’04: to smoke and mirror what wasn’t there—and what WAS there. To confuse analysis is the only believable reason they’d do that—is that the way an Honest Man treats a record he wants people to understand and respect? (If you don’t know what an Honest Man would do, then let me guess: you voted Republican)

According to the records of the only two units he could have served in, Bush was not there for the whole year (May 1972-73) And according to the statements of the commanders of the units and the memories of ALL the people in the units, he wasn’t there either. (John Calhoun not withstanding—the dates he saw Bush there could not have happened)

Interestingly, in a twist, we know that at least part of Killian’s statement on the 72-73 OER is false—Bush WAS under his command at least the first part of this year. Killian suspended him and approved 2 transfer requests during that time, the 2d dated (Killian signed) Sep 6th, 1972. Untill that time Bush was in the 111th.

So where was he the rest of the time?

One of the reasons studying the OER is so important is that it is the ONLY evidence of Bush’s attendance, other than his pay records, for the whole year. This is a HUGE contradiction: No one in either unit saw Bush for the whole year, according to all the records, the unit commanders’ statements and the (non) memories of all the participants in those units. Yet Bush was PAID for 14 days in this year! What did Bush do and where to earn his federal pay when all the evidence says he wasn’t there? Who authorized the pay? The records of the only two units he could have earned it in say he wasn’t there.

Lechliter covers the nuts and bolts of this fraud extensively, I”ll just give you the summary: (Page 29) “in summary, Bush provided his critics with the rope to hang him. (YESYESYES!!!!—BMHP ed. note) The finance records showed that Bush was paid for the periods the WH claims he attended training. They, however, do not show if he indeed performed any training and how well he performed his assigned duties in Alabama and in his TXANG unit since there are no performance evaluations for those periods. The pay records do show that he was fraudulently paid for unauthorized INACDUTRA periods…”

And in one of the most laughable episodes of this whole story, all that Bush can counter this with was the testimony of a woman Bush had been dating! From the Moonie Times: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20040211-121217-6595r.htm {Notice the headline? Notice the other smoke and mirroring?)

Umm, Excuse me? Military attendance is never confirmed by one’s girlfriend’s testimony? Never? As in: Not ever? ( Ask me how I know this!) Hope that’s not a military secret. Its always done by the records and word of the officials responsible for records keeping. Always--except for George W Bush and his paid friends in the media. This shows you the lameness of the Bush defense against this charge—there is none All they keep saying is their buzz phrases—“he was following his commander’s requirements…” You bet he was—and they were all corrupt as hell.

So ALL that Bush has to prove that he was in Alabama is this OER—which wasn’t written by the Alabama unit—which we know to be falsified (studied in previous BMHPs).

And when we look at what the OER actually says, it says he wasn’t there in Texas. The only confirmation that he was in Alabama at all is in this OER—and we know that at least part of it is false. How much more? Lets look.

When Killian, in the OER, says: “…He cleared this base on 15 May 1972 and has been performing equivalent training in a nonflying status with the 187 Tac Recon grp, Dannelly ANG bas, Alabama.” where is he getting the information from? That Bush was there? There’s nothing to back this up.
Take a quick look at the last 2 Killian Memos: They tell us what Killian was thinking, Bartletts lies, not withstanding. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-09-09bushdocs.pdf Page 6: “…Neither Lt Colonel Harris feel we can rate Lt Bush since he was not training with the 111th since Apr 1972….” Page 7 “….Bush wasn’t here during rating period and I haven’t any feedback from Alabama…..”

Those statements match the record exactly, especially the OER. Bush wasn’t there the whole year. As the AL unit swears to this day that Bush never showed up, and its records show it, its safe to say that Killian never heard anything from Alabama confirming Bush’s attendance. And here we have him saying Bush was there—when the AL unit says he wasn’t.. A major contradiction there and more proof the OER is falsified—or what evidence did Killian have that Bush was in AL? Bush’s word? Emily Marks word?

These falsifications are important to keep in mind looking at Bush’s Pay records: because Bush was paid for 8 days in this period that his supporters now claim he was back in Ellington—oooor not, theyre nebulous here.

Bush was paid for 6 days in Jan 1973 4,5,6,8,9,10 and 2 days in Apr, 7,8. His supporters wave a partially complete dental exam form from Alabama around to “prove his attendance” But it doesn’t prove what a pilot who had been suspended from his only job got paid for 6 almost continuous days of duty when the Alabama unit still insists—and the records show---that he never showed up.

What could Bush have possible been doing there that he had no orders for and for which there is not one single record to confirm it? The permission to do equivalent service in AL was only for Sep, Oct, Nov 72—there’s nothing extending that---or even show him signing into the unit—which he would have HAD to do to get paid!

And the two days in April—even Bush supporters don’t pretend he was in AL then—yet Killian, his purported commander says in no uncertain terms that Bush was NOT in his unit during all these days.

Next installment—so how did Bush get Paid when he obviously did no work?? Ummm, federal money too (short answer: fraudulently—see Lechliter’s Pay records section)

1. Interesting. It has always been apparent that he was AWOL.
It's just how long he was AWOL that is in dispute.

I don't know if AWOL is the correct term, but I'll use it anyway.
