so, AT&T called me and wants me back as their customer
They just called and offered me some awesome deal on long distance and local toll call services (which I canceled after I heard they were one of the main player's in the NSA spying program; I rehired my new/old carrier in India). :D I simply hung up on them.

Rude you say? No, not rude! Rude is listening in on your phone calls!

Anyone else had AT&T call them trying to get you back as their customer? Just curious.

Just say NO to AT&T!

1. I left even before I knew they were giving data to NSA and they still
keep calling. Told the last one that they might as well give up since I'm not coming back.

4. I still have them for my phone line
I have no option but them for local calls. However, the local toll calls and the long distance two-bit plan they sold me it now gone and I also canceled call waiting. People can wait if they don't like a busy signal. Screw them is right! :grr:

3. They lost me when Cingular took over their cellular service.
We got new phones and signed new 2-year contracts with AT&T only a few weeks before Cingular took them over. Starting immediately, they began shutting AT&T towers down and our service began to deteriorate. We called them and asked to have our contract cancelled and changed to the new network and they refused to do it. In addition, they told us that the end date of our new contract was several months later than it should have been (Dec 2006!). We quit paying and then a little while later we got a bill for over $600, then a couple of follow-ups. We stopped hearing from them about 6 months ago. F**k 'em!!

5. Did the "no call list" law lapse?
Because I've been getting tons of unsolicited sales calls lately. None from AT&T though because I rarely use long distance.

6. I don't know what happened with that
I had to recently change my phone # and I signed up for donotcall again. I can't say I get a lot of telemarketers, but then again if I get a call and I hear this *pause* I know it is someone trying to sell something most likely and I just hang-up.

I'm wondering if this donotcall list is where they got the #'s to spy on to begin with now! :grr: :tinfoilhat:

7. When I switched my phone to TWC, I got a fancy, pale pink greeting
card with a delicate drawing of a rose on it and silver script that said "We're so sorry..." (I wondered if this was a card from someone who had learned of my father's death the year before) -then opened the card, and the silver script said "that you left us". Yeah, from BellSouth.

8. Should have told them: "your call is very important,
"and may be monitored for customer service quality, terrorism connections, and liberal political statements".

9. I should have said "do you hear that beep?"
I should have told them that I record all incoming phone calls just to be "safe".

11. Haven't heard from them myself
I did dump SBC/AT&T for both DSL and local phone service though. They lost me for DSL when they started with the lies about net neutrality and were told straight out that if they kept pushing the local and long distance service was next. The same day that passed committee I switched to another provider. They lost me before the NSA stuff even hit the news.

12. luckily I had the place in India for most of the time
I'd only very recently switched to the AT&T long distance (like a few months ago).

I just switched back and at least my lines aren't AT&T's any longer!!!
