Pat Roberton could call a news conference about wanting to kill a world leader or anything, and he would get multiple camera crews showing up.

I always wonder if the news people of the past, Edward E. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Harry Reasoner, David Brinkley....would have tolerated any of their staff even mentioning having one of these carnival attractions on their show. (my apologies to carnival attractions). There were people just as heinous and insane during their day. But. They weren't given a forum on national television. They were dismissed as unfortunates.
Today. These freaks shove rational people who can intelligently debate out of the way.
So what we see on so-called "news" shows are the crazies - people who have nothing substantial to add to our considered arguments for solving problems. They just spew their prejudice.

In this age of 24 hour cable news (where they need to fill time,) it couldn't be easier to find away to make it on T.V......as we're painfully finding out!
