I'm fucking sick of wacko christian emails!
I get crap like this time to time from my sister. Usually, I either ignore or educate her about it. I have explained how much I dislike this garbage and ask her not to send me any more. This time I got pissed and told her what I thought.

Here is what she sent me:

Everyone might not be a Jay Leno fan, but I think this quote pretty much hits the nail on the head.
The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us....go
ahead and delete this. For the rest of us.....pass this on.

-------------------------

Here is my reply to her:

Jay Leno is a kiss ass bushite.

Another thing, we’ve always had tornadoes, hurricanes and so on whether god was in the pledge or not.

Just to let you in on something…I’m not a christian…least not the brand that agrees with such propaganda bullshit. I’ll never be this kind of christian, because I don’t want to be. I don’t want to be the kind of christian that says war in Iraq is good. I don’t want to be the kind of christian that thinks it’s okay to force people to my religion. I don’t want to be the kind of christian that does far more judging than helping the downtrodden and others who really need it. Jesus wasn’t that kind of man. Jesus was with the children, the prostitutes, the poor, the hopeless and the weak. He wasn’t like the christians of today who can’t see past their bibles.

I don’t have to be some gawd fearing christian in order to love my country. I love my country enough to call out this kind of bullshit. This gets said by people who call themselves christians and think that not having the word ‘god’ or the ‘ten commandments’ or whatever…will somehow be the ruination of the U.S. Those kinds of christians are doing a hell of a job in dragging this country down by themselves.

Remember one thing. This country was built by people who knew that government sponsored religion is dangerous. It shuts out those who choose to worship differently and those who chose not to worship at all. It’s discriminating and offensive. Freedom of religion is why you can worship as you see fit without worrying the government will tell you who to worship and how.

You may have thought you were doing this to get me pissed off. Congrats. You did. It offends me and hurts my feelings. You sending me this shit tells me that you want me to believe just like you and that you don’t care about what I do believe. Mom is the same exact way. She has no respect for my beliefs.

The problem is…none of you care enough to know what I believe. This kind of crap is shallow and insensitive.

Do you really believe god would punish the masses, even children, because god isn’t in the pledge of allegiance? Do you believe god is that shallow or requires this from humans? Do you believe god wants us on our knees praying or singing rather than helping those less fortunate? Weren’t we told that in order to serve god best is to serve and help our fellow man?

This is just a small part of what I believe. If you truly care about what I think or how I feel, I ask that you not send me anymore of this garbage. It’s an insult not just to me, but also to the god I believe in.

there are churches to attend where you don't have to check your brains at the door. I think there should be a Mapquest link with directions. Why would anyone want to believe in a God like they believe?

9. Actually, you might want to ask her when we did the US add
the under God to the pledge, 1950's circa right.

Okay, as a Christian, your fundie sister needs to actually learn the Biblical teachings. The Bible says that one should not swear (ask any Fundie they will tell you that), the problem is the the term swear meant an allegiance to anyone or thing, other than God. Therefore, every time your Fundie sister pledges her allegiance to the US of A, she is defying God's decree against swearing an oath to anything other than Him. That's why, I no longer say the the Pledge, I OBEY God's commandment!

Secondly, when one looks at the Gospels and Jesus's teaching on money, you can only serve one master GOD or Money, I would ask her "How do you think that God feels about us putting, "IN GOD WE TRUST" on our money?". My guess, Pharisee, Oh Pharisee, when will you learn, you vile creature!

I figure He/She has had it with our false Christianity and as the dollar's value continues to fall, let those fundies pray to the IN GOD WE TRUST on that piece of $$$, because we have been warned about the money thing!

I'm so sorry for you, and for me too. I have the same sister you have. I went through this same shit with mine just a few days ago. I had to block her damn email addy for a while I couldn't take it anymore. I have decided she wants to be a Nazi so I will treat her self righteous Bushitler worshipping ass like a Nazi then. I am done with her, she spews all this bible god stuff and support of killing anyone in Iraq including babies stuff to the point I am done with her. She is a heartless godless souless empty person, I wrote her back and told her I felt so sorry for her that she was so sick. She thinks I am going to hell, hey if going to heaven is being with that kind I would rather go to hell. (I am not religious and don't believe in hell)But I think your rant was awesome passion put to keyboard and I commend you. Hang in there and keep the faith of truth and honesty and morality. They have lost all that and that is sad.
PS my daughter called me on the phone just now to let me know about this post, she knows what I have been going through with my sister.

17. So far my sister hasn't gone quite that far...
I'd probably react the same way if I heard that kind of vile from her. I totally understand how you feel though. My mother and my sister have no respect for my beliefs. They are forever trying to get me to be saved again, repent or whatever. They probably think I'm going to hell, too, but like you...I don't believe in hell.

I do feel sorry for so-called christians, my sister and mother included, who hold so tight to their bibles and their version of god, that they can't see anything else. It's always...don't do this and don't do that. It's rarely ever...help the poor, the sick or those who so desperately need it. They judge with little compassion and even less understanding.

It is sad and all I can do at this point is hope that maybe they'll see how destructive their type of religion and thinking are. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll always remain a believer that most people can change.

Thanks!

29. MY sister is relatively normal.
But I have observed many other people's sisters as they "get God" and become irrational, heartless haters of everyone with a brain. The corrosive, deadening effect of toxic religiosity can be seen all around us.

Have you ever listened to one of those "Christian" radio stations? During the day they have all these call-in shows about family problems (the answer is always to "get God"), then at night they run the most hate-filled, bigoted, un-Christlike garbage you have ever heard. These citizens of our liberal democracy with its liberal Constitution do nothing but spew hatred for liberals. Who hates America again?

It seems to me that normal people use their brains but religious zealots operate on pure emotion, and the emotions are always exactly the same: hate and fear, hate and fear, hate and fear.

I am so glad I am not a Christian.

15. What you said....

I know I've been thinking that for years- what kind of God would rather us sing and pray to them instead of helping those less fortunate. I never understood this EGO GOD - 'hey you better worship me' thing.

Also what kind of Father/Mother deliberately temps their children as a test to see if they'll OBEY.
Hey there will always be a delicious piece of chocolate cake on the kitchen counter but don't you dare ever eat it. (Adam and Eve) I don't have children - I have two kitties. If I did such a thing to my oh so curious cats by deliberating creating some type of structure in my house - but forbidding them to ever jump on it - I'd consider it pet abuse. When has testing a loved one or deliberately setting them up for temptation and planning to banish them if they gave in -ever been a testament to LOVE?

Also - what kind of Father would love everyone else sooooo much that he would offer his son for sacrifice? I thought of this after the broohah of "The Passion of the Christ"... Evangicals said it confirmed how MUCH God loved them... but really how can you baste in the so called love of someone that proves it by sacrificing their son for you?

My personal spiritual beliefs simply can't relate to a God that would do these things, because I would never do them myself. Tempting bordering on taunting, sacrificing my family, or basking in songs of praise and prayers of worship - said in my name - nope, not me.

Lastly my personal spritual beliefs are just that - PERSONAL. I really hold them so deeply and dearly inside that I would no more dare to speak of them with casual people or strangers then I would talk with people about my sex life. Because to me - well, it cheapens the whole experience.

18. 'Ego God'...that's a perfect name
You nailed it right there.

I spent most of my growing up years in baptist churches. That stuff was spoon fed for years and I struggled a long time with it. It's only been in the last few years that I've come to terms. With the studying, reading and asking questions I've got a better, more comfortable handle on my spiritual beliefs now than I ever have.

And you're right...it is very personal and I cherish my spirituality. For a long time I wondered if I would ever have that. While I'll still come closer to calling myself an agnostic, I still feel a sense of spirituality that is sometimes hard to define. I would never share it with a casual stranger, either. I would with my mother and sister if I thought they would be understanding and respectful.

I can't since I know they won't be that and it really saddens me.

Don't forget, this is the same god who set up rock strata and thousands of fossils in an elaborate ruse for humans to find, thinking that they prove that the earth is old and that evolution of life forms has occurred. Actually, of course, the earth and all its species were created exactly as they are now a mere 6000 years ago.

Sadly, there are actually people who believe this kind of crap.

Twice now, I've been at a hospital with a loved one who was in danager of dying, and both times someone from the hospital -- someone with no role in my loved ones' caer -- came to me to ask if I wanted her to pray with me. Everything in me rebels at moments like that. I truly cannot abide it when someone treats me like I can't choose my own religious expression, or won't leave me alone to decide not to choose it.Infuriates me and I blow up in what probably to others looks unexpected and irrational puffs of steam -- but it's just like a nasty electric current spikes goinb through me and all my good manners are fried. 20. Leno's NOT a Bushite.
Once again, I have to post this:

http://www.laweekly.com/index.php?option=com_lawcontent&task=view&id=9012&Itemid=

Jay Leno says, “I’m not conservative. I’ve never voted that way in my life.” He “really worries” what a Dubya victory in November will do to the makeup of the Supreme Court. He believes “the wool was pulled over our eyes” with the Iraq war. He thinks the White House began using terrorism “as a crutch” after 9/11. He feels that during the campaign Kerry should “make Bush look as stupid as possible.” He believes “the media is in the pocket of the government, and they don’t do their job” so “you have people like Michael Moore who do it for them.” He has on his joke-writing staff a number of former professional speechwriters for Democratic candidates. “No Republicans.” When it comes to Bush, he doesn’t think his politics are much different from Letterman’s. “Does he show his dislike maybe a little more than I do? Probably.” Leno used to read Mother Jones magazine.

21. All of those things existed before "under God" was put into the Pledge
They existed long before the Pledge existed. They existed before vocal prayer was taken out of schools and before schools existed for vocal prayer to be taken out of. Same for Bible reading in schools.

The whackjobs will always find ways to insist that "taking God out of" such and such causes tragedies or will cause tragedies, but they're just grasping at straws.

27. I sent a not pleasant email to the Discovery Inst;
After I found out that they were a prime mover in the Dover case providing legal help and money. I did not receive a reply, however I started getting emails from something called 'beliefnet' soon after. I think that rather than thinking I was the devil, they thought that I was a 'poor soul' in need of saving.

About 4 years ago I had a major crisis and committed myseld to a mental institute. I got out after new meds were prescribed but they needed some time to start to work. My brother, a fundamentalist trained preacher, called and tried to convert me over the phone. I still had the presence of mind to say 'hell no' but it shows the reach of the religious right. They preach to those who are sick, troubled and in need of human compassion. Instead, what those in need get is a dose of promise of a better life wrapped up in lies and corruption. These people are sick but their message looks like a birthday cake. It's too late for those that partake when they find out it's shit inside.

Not going to post the link because it is 20 pages of pictures of what our allegedly Christian pResident is doing in Jesus' name.

I've never received anything after doing that. Kind of hard for these religious nutjobs to pretend that Jesus wants a little baby to have its skull blown in half.

I was on her God list. I used to just delete her crap, but I finally got fed up and responded. Boy, she sure didn't like that! She hit me with both barrels. She didn't think I had a right to respond to her and thought I should have just deleted it if I didn't like it. I blasted her back, told her I had the right to respond to anything that enters my in-box, and ended up asking her to only use my email address if she wanted to catch up on what's going on in each other's lives - no more garbage. Apparently, that was too much for her and she's never emailed me again.

45. Cool page of 'God quotes' might be fun to use in replies
http://www.saysgod.com/

Some of my favs from the page:

I never said, "Thou shalt not think."
—God

If you seek to know my ways, read a damn science book.
—God

Excuse me? Where do you see my name on the front of the Bible?
—God

If you didn't hear it straight from my lips, take it with a grain of salt.
—God

46. I have an uncle like this.
He called the Democratic Party Satan's party a while back which spawned this response:

Sorry your sister is like this. It's frustrating.

47. My sister is a religious nut job too!
mostly because she is lazy and doesn't want to think or be responsible. She knows better than to tangle with me over religion though - I'm not one to sit by and mistake being a doormat for being polite. When someone starts the I'm a christian therefore I'm superior crap I have to chime in.

48. My reply:
With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to waste our energy worrying about God in the Pledge of Allegiance?

49. I literally blocked my brother's email address because of this nonsense.
He might be stupid enough to buy into email propganda, but I've had enough of it. I told him to stop, they kept coming, so my brother is now on my Block Sender list...

Should make for an interesting family event next time..
