I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning!
Here we have douchebag congressman Lynn Westmoreland from Georgia.
He is sponsoring legislation require the display of the Ten Commandments in the House and the Senate.
Turns out when COLBERT agrees and asks him to list all ten, Westmoreland gets as far as 3.

1. Is this thing real?
I saw this on TV the other day and said - this can't be real.

I wouldn't let that moron bag leaves in my yard and here he is in congress.

Lynn? Nice name.

I think that's what the post meant, that Lynn was a silly name for a man.

I'm embarrassed to say that Lynn Westmoreland is my Congressman. I haven't lived in the States since 1986, but my last address was in Westmoreland's constituency and it's where I'm still registered to vote. Now that I'm no longer a US resident, I can't change my registration.

It's interesting what's happened to that part of Georgia since I left. My old Georgia zip code has now been split so that the fairly small area it encompasses is now part of three different congressional districts, gerrymandered to favor the Republicans. Looking at the districts on a map is ridiculous because they're so misshapen and spread out all over the place. In fact, my old road is now in two different districts, depending on what house numbers people have.

I've never liked or trusted Westmoreland (he's a Republican and also took handouts from Tom DeLay), but I'd never actually seen him speak until watching the Colbert clip. Dear God, it's embarrassing to know that this man is supposed to represent anyone's interests in Congress.

Edited: typo

6. Unreal.
The democrats should make good use of that film clip. Rather than dignify their disgusting attempts to exploit emotions, we should be making these people into national jokes.

14. Good idea!
There certainly are enough clips of idiots in action! The Democrats could save a lot of money in ad production costs too, the work is already done.

7. Apparently Westmoreland is a Diebold Republican.
A prime example of a right-wing idiot if I ever saw one. He says he wants to post the damn commandments in every public building and then he doesn't even know what they are!

I'll bet he doesn't realize to this day what an ass he made of himself on national TV (and on the Internets)! These people are freaking amazing.

We live in a nation of idiots. I am seriously thinking about finding a better place to live out the rest of my life. This just isn't America any more. America died after the 2000 election.

10. I almost didn't open your thread because I didn't know that it
contained this topic. You should have entitled it, "Colbert interviews idiot congressman from Georgia", because anyone who saw that interview was without a doubt on the floor in hysterics!

This was a CLASSIC! Colbert should absolutely get an Emmy for this episode alone. Can you imagine them playing this clip at the Emmy ceremonies???

12. QUESTION?
The guy looked so bad it was almost like his performance was scripted?

Do these guys INTENTIONALLY get coached on how to perform like idiots?

Or are they really that stupid?

I asked my Congressman John Larsen if he was going on and he said if you agree then it's a minimum of a half day for Colbert's crew at your office for filming. Kind of a long time to make an idiot of yourself on national TV.

Stephen - keep the Republican idiots coming, man!

13. This does not surprise me in the least
The right uses a choke hold on religion, not that they practice it, they just practice to deceive.. Funny thing, the bible does actually warn about Men like this....

15. Oh, my made up god...
...that was friggin' hilarious!

I've never been in a church in my life, never once prayed to Yahweh, and I don't accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior, and yet I can name all ten of the congressman's commandments.

What a maroon!!!
