Bush is determined to use our resources to 'revitalize' Iraq's economy
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 10:10 AM by bigtree

Never mind the unmet needs here at home that have been festering for as long as our troops have been festering in Iraq.

"To help revitalize the Iraqi economy, President Bush intends to send additional U.S. experts to help the Iraqi government develop an economic framework to promote job creation and business opportunities for all Iraqis. The United States also will help increase oil and electricity production by working with Iraqi authorities to protect key infrastructure from terrorist attacks, and to help quickly restore oil and electricity production should attacks occur."

Bush, from the radio address:

"To aid the Prime Minister in revitalizing Iraq's economy, we will send additional experts to help the Iraqi government develop an economic framework that will promote job creation and opportunity for all Iraqis. We will also help the Prime Minister increase oil and electricity production by working together on ways to protect key infrastructure from attacks, and to quickly restore oil and electricity production when attacks do occur."

Aside from the obvious joke of Bush sending his sorry cabinet officials to Iraq to do for them what they've done for America, there's the question of the propriety of our nation's officials meddling in Iraqi government affairs on behalf of the Maliki regime.

2. the money slipped through Bremer's hands, deliberately
amazing to still be talking about restoring the electricity, and restoring their oil as a priority for our nation's Cabinet officials.

3. We'll pay to create a dynamic Potemkin village
The society is being ripped apart by bombings and assassinations every day, many of which are purposely designed to make economic functioning impossible.

Our experts and tax dollars are going to fix this?

The bombing and killing is increasing. Experts? What are they going to fix?

4. good point
the bombs and munitions they use to exterminate Iraqis and others need replacing as well. It's clearly a cottage industry of death and destruction.
