Puppy dog eyes: Guiltless after an airport run

BURBANK - Taxi never got off the ground, but the little white dog - nicknamed for the tour he took at dawn Friday across airport runways - got plenty of offers for a home.
The Yorkshire terrier zigged and zagged for some 30 minutes on a taxiway and runway at Bob Hope Airport - with maintenance workers scrambling behind in a chase reminiscent of the Keystone Kops. And all was caught on camera from a news chopper hovering overhead.
Finally, Taxi, a male dog about 5, was scooped up, bathed and taken to the Burbank Animal Shelter. Taxi's antics drew dozens of calls from across the country from people wanting to adopt him, said Tracy Fossen at the shelter, where the little dog spent the day in Kennel 31.
He's not available for adoption until next Thursday, to give enough time for an owner to come forward. Taxi had a collar, but no tags, nor a microchip implanted to supply identification. By Friday morning, no owner had stepped forward.
