If ANYONE believes Iraq does not equal Vietnam
You need to watch The Fog of War. Its a documentary that has been on the History channel tonight. I swear, you could take every single quote, direct from the president to the sec of def. to the generals, and superimpose it on Iraq and there would be absolutely no difference.

FYI, it will be repeated June 18th at 1 AM.

1. THANK YOU
I am SICK of hearing about how we need to stay in Iraq to "fix" things - IT CANNOT BE FIXED

3. Hearing things like
"we have to win their hearts and minds" is blowing my mind!

4. Macnamara asked Vo Nguyen Giap (his N Vietnamese counterpart)
how they had persevered in the face of that horrible casualty rate.

Giap replied, "It was our Country".

5. I'm sorry you had to endure that
As such, you may not have had a clear view of the domestic political machinations that screwed up so many people's lives. If that is the case, I would caution you to be careful while watching it because I know that if had spent that much time there, and I heard what the people in Washington were saying....

10. We knew what it was.
I was Special Forces (SEAL) and we knew what the hell was going on back home.

It just didn't make any difference to us at the time.

Sure does now.

We were consumed with successful missions and staying alive.

I absolutely abhor the present situation.

And us old guys have no voice, whatsoever.

6. Same assortment of bozo's in admin. as Nam and people
expect anything different? You all need to read some history if you think that Iraq will turn out any different than Nam with Rumsfeld and the rest of his handpicked nitwits.

9. Hold on a second. The current bastards are far worse than the Vietnam ...
bunch.

Bush and Cheney are pure evil. JFK, Johnson and Humphrey made mistakes. Not even Nixon and Agnew compare to Bush and Cheney. MacNamara was a much better man than Rumsfeld will ever be.

8. I disagree with their disagreement.
A draft would change the demostic calculus completely.

As far as casualties, US technology, offensive and defensive, is much greater today. Additionally, the number of battlefield deaths as a percent of total casualties is miniscule today because of advanced medical care.

11. Robert STRANGE McNamara
Never saw 'The Fog of War' before. Man, does this scare the shit out of me. Same crap as today. Same stupid reasoning. Only back then they were actually intelligent.

12. That's why there won't be a draft
and you'll never be allowed to see the bodies.

190 shopping days until Christmas.
