9/11 widow: Don't judge

Says Father's Day is toughest for family

I am not a "harpy." I am not a "witch." I have never taken a moment's pleasure from my husband's death on Sept. 11, 2001.
What I am is a "9/11 widow." I am a mother of three, and I dread today - Father's Day - more than any other.

For four straight years, Father's Day has been a raw reminder of what I - and thousands of women like me - lost on that cloudless Tuesday morning almost five years ago.

Today, I will watch my three beautiful daughters and be amazed at their resiliency - and how their lives honor their father every single day. Of course, I will also think about what we might have been doing today as a family - what we should be doing today. A barbecue, probably, or maybe a day at the beach with Dad. Today, the hole in my heart will grow a bit bigger.

...

This is my fourth Father's Day of being angry because thousands of kids have no father, thousands of women have no husband. But this year I'm also angry about being judged. Angry that people are telling me how, and how not, to grieve. I want people - especially those who think it's okay to reduce our situation to an unflattering one-word stereotype - to know that our families still struggle to get by. That some days are harder than others. That there is no single, easy or "right" way to get through what we must endure.

So before you pass judgment, again, I ask: Does anyone want to trade places with me today?

4. Ann Coulter has never been married, so how the hell would she know
ANYTHING about ANYTHING to do with grieving for husbands?

What ugly insides she must have.

5. She also never enlisted in the military or sent a husband or child to
fight in a war based on lies or any other kind of war either.

6. Good for Ms. Cirri
I'm very glad to see someone addressing the recent vile and incredibly offensive claims made by the basest element of the right.

7. And she's done it with dignity.
Bravo to her for speaking her feelings without using the same tactics her detractors have used. That last line is heartbreaking.

9. What a great letter, poignant, and pithy at the same time.
Good for Ms. Cirri for calling out the likes of Coulter, Hannity, and O'Rielly. No, she didn't name them, but we know exactly to whom she was referring.

My heart just breaks for these families, and especially for the women who have been so shamelessly smeared by the likes of Coulter. I'm glad they have stood up to her, in their various ways.

11. I sure wish Ann Coulter could trade places with her. No,
actually I wish Ann Coulter could trade places with her husband. There is something very wrong with a world where that evil waste of skin is allowed to live and make millions of dollars of the misery of others while a good man, a father, a husband, is lost forever.

12. I have this strange feeling that Coulter would want to
change places; a home with three daughters and no husband is so much closer to a healthy home life than she has ever had, or has much chance of ever having. Of course, she (sic) is not interested in changing places. She is enjoying her wealth-producing life of hatred very well, thank you very much. Her run is just about up. The 9/11 widows will long outlast her.

13. now i'm crying
this lady should not have to defend herself against human cockroaches like ann coulter who trash her name to sell a worthless piece of paper

my god, what is this world, why are people so cruel? doesn't coulter have enough $$ already, she has to make more by crapping on widows?

of course no one who loves their husband would be willing to trade, but coulter don't know that, she has never loved anyone but herself

17. She doesn't have to defend herself. She has more class in her little
pinky than anyone who would speak ill of her.

14. That last line is killer
I almost read it without crying and then BAM, she asks the most important question any 9/11 widow could ever ask of the hateful critics. Wow.

19. Ann Just Goes After Them Because They're Democrats
I would never go after the Republican 9/11 widows. Ann lives in a sick little world. To her, all Democrats are there for her to destroy, even if they have gone through something awful. She is a major reason why I want the neocons to go down. I am sick of these cold bullies.

20. Folks, ann coulter makes money saying and writing horrid, outrageous
things. That's how she pays her bills. If she thought she could make a buck, she would demean Jesus Christ. I mean, he was definitely a LIBERAL!

ignorant to know that or just lives in denial.

Anyway, I conclude that coultergeist is a Godless pervert who will do anything for her own personal moneygod.

21. 'Does anyone want to trade places with me today?'
So how about it Ann? You've never been married (though you sure do complain about married people) so why not take her place for a day? See what it is like with the kids and how they handle their dad's death. Naw, it would never happen with Ann. She like fake men (like Ronald McDonald) way too much to try a real one.
