My future nephew-in-law who is headed to Langly and just got his degree from Auburn has a great bumper sticker on his pick up truck and got his tires slashed....

And worse, has been having major trouble getting security clearance in his internship at a defense contractor.

This Country has discovered new realms of "suckiness."

1. Any reason given for the security clearance problems?
Don't they have to tell you what the problem is?

2. Problem?
Yeah....I'm sure they can make one up. Stick him on some terrorist watch list, and claim they don't know how he got there.

Or perhaps they could just say he's wearing the wrong type of shoes. Do they need reasons these days? If someone powerful enough wants to black ball him, then there's little he can do.

That's what these people do. Another reason we're on the verge of a dictatorship.

5. They usually DO tell you if there is a problem
with most people I know who have problems with a clearance, they tell them.

Usually the reason revolves around family members being non-US citizens. Being married to someone who is a non-citizen is a problem here.

The process is governed by Federal civil service regs. You have more rights here than with most private sector employers.

6. At this point, it's just "the paper work takes time" problem...
For the last four weeks...

3. If he survived being a liberal at Auburn
He's probably ready to deal with the BS the rest of the country has to throw at him. I was there in the late70's - early 80's and it already over-run with religious right conservative students. However, I did like many of the profs.
