Bush & Cheney Going Round in Circles
by
Larry C Johnson
With apologies to the late Billy Preston, we should modify his classic hit and sing to the clueless President and Vice President, Why Do You Go Round in Circles? Dick Cheney reminded us again today just how clueless he is. Appearing today at the National Press Club, the Vice President:
defended his comment last year, often ridiculed by administration critics, that the Iraqi insurgency was "in its final throes."
He said he was referring to a series of events _ including elections and the drafting and acceptance of a new Iraqi constitution _ that he believes history will show to be pivotal.
Bush calls pivotal moments, "turning a corner". Since invading Iraq we turned a corner when Uday and Qusay were killed in the summer of 2003. Another corner was turned when we captured Saddam in the fall of 2003. We turned two more corners with the elections in 2004 and 2005. And our latest turn of corner came, so we are told, by the killing of Abu Musab al Zarqawi. That is at least five corner turns, which means we have gone around in a circle and are starting on our second lap. If you go around in circles long enough you get dizzy and you create a rut. What George Bush and Dick Cheney still have not learned, is that the road to victory is not achieved by turning corners. You must know your destination and then go there. These clowns are spending so much time spinning in a circle that they are completely disoriented.
