I was just thinking, 06/08 are THE MOST IMPORTANT EVER
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 12:48 AM by dubeskin
I was sitting here thinking as I was browsing other topics, that the '06 and '08 elections will probably be either the most or the second most important elections of this century. Are world is coming to an end as we know it. If the right officials are not elected(and I don't necessarily mean Dems or Repubs), our world will end as we know it. Many issues, such as discrimination and bigotry, have come around full scale these last couple of years. There have been tons of political cover ups. There has been a largely growing nationalism, and many other thing.

*Global Warming: If the right people aren't elected, the current generation and future generations will greatly be affected, with the "It won't affect me, so why do I care?" type of thinking. C02 emissions are growing rapidly, and many of Mother Natures creatures are perishing with it.

*Foreign Policy: What we decide to do considering Iraq, will affect how the U.S. is viewed as a world superpower. If we continue to kill innocent civilians, it will show the U.S. as corrupt and power hungry. We would be turning into the enemy we were trying to fight.

*Inflation: With the growing national debt, inflation is rising. This will affect EVERYTHING. Especially with the minimum wage staying at it's current rate, people are rapidly falling below the poverty line. They are unable to support themselves and their families. This country would start to have a lower quality of living, possibly making us a 2nd world country(get used to the term).

Any other objects you can think of I will add. I know there are many more, I just don't want to take up more of your precious time. Thanks for reading.:)

1. Funny. I've been sitting here wondering why I bother voting anymore.

Seriously. I've been thinking about it all evening. I'm so disappointed in the Dems, and I'm so discouraged from being so disappointed in them.

Tonight when I read about Blanco signing the anti-abortion state law I was disappointed. But when I saw that the law banned abortions even in cases of rape and incest I was disgusted.

I'm so discouraged with who we have to choose from. I want a hero to emerge and create a whole new party. I want almost all of the Repubs and Dems to lose their jobs and get out of leadership/representative positions because they're neither good leaders nor representative.

In the meantime, I don't know why I should bother to vote. I'm sure I will vote but I'm not volunteering or giving money this time around. Giving money to Dem candidates is like flushing it down the toilet till they get an attitude change. If they want money, they can collect it from the conservative Republicans they've been pandering to for the last 8 years.

4. The difference this time though
is that people are AWARE now. Back then, people were not as aware of all the corruption in the government.
